Appleshare System Error

Hi,

We have an old G3 Mac that sits in a corner for the Printers to use to make their own plate remakes. (Gotta keep those Inky Printers off our Prepress Macs) :D

Only it has a problem I can't seem to nut out how to fix it...

Connection failed
An Appleshare System error occurred

Can anyone please offer some help?

do you have OS9 set to start up when you launch OSX? Try rebuilding the desktop in OS9 (I know, sounds stupid, but you'd be surprised).
If not, you may want to download the 10.3.9 update and re-run it to see if it can repair/fix the problem.
Here's a link:
Mac OS X Update 10.3.9

good luck,
David

Hi,
Thanks for your help....
We are using Prinergy Worksop to make plates from OSX.
The error happens when I try to do anything in Workshop (The only program we use on there)
I have downloaded the 10.3.9 update and installed.
I have gone into Classic Prefs and rebuilt the desktop.
Haven't got another computer with OS 9 so cant copy anything over.
OS9 doesn't start when the computer starts, and isn't used at all now.
Still no joy :-(

Any other suggestions GREATLY appreciated :)

Thanks
Wendy

Is Appletalk enabled in the OS X Network System Preferences? Has it ever worked. If it used to work maybe someone turned Appletalk off. Appletalk is off by default when you install OS X.

Failing that I'd try running a utility like AppleJack which will repair permissions and clean caches, etc.

Appletalk is enabled.
Am not big on the netwprk stuff but I assume it was working?
I have tried turning it off in the preferences and still get the same error.
Unless I am changing it in the wrong place.
Trying to find a version of Applejack that runs on 10.3

Cheers
Wendy
