Avantra Installation, all 4 feet needed ?

Hi,

I have the very special question, wether this machine can be used without all the feet mounted.

Therefor, I am looking for the installation-manual for the Avantra,
may be, there is some advice.

There is a machine delivered with only 3 feet (instead of the 4).
What does the instuctions manual gives advice, does the feet must all exist?

Does the machine moves while operation and should be fixed, using the feet ?

From my own Field Service experience 75% users use only two front legs to touch the floor plus one extra turn to avoid any Avantra movement... sure, if you have a flat and horizontal level of the floor.

But if you use on-line processor you need all 4 legs to place Avantra's back side output slot across the processor's input slot prorerly.

Avantras are not so critical as SelectSet 5000/7000 to the leveling.

The problem is - the leveler foot has imperial (not metric) measure units, so you can't obtain a long bolt to replace the lost foot easily because you are in Europe. But who knows? May be you can find long bolt with a proper thread at local shops like "Home Depot" in America

Old service manual told me: Leveling Glide (or Foot?) for Av25 had a p/n CG+ 066766-0001 (TX+ nowadays)
But Spare parts database gave me CG+C02015-0001 for Av25 and TX+0667660002 for Av30.
You have to call to AGFA Tech Support to obtain a correct p/n - call 1-800-TRY-AGFA or...
you have a great AGFA spare parts Stock in Hamburg with very friendly personnel

Hi,

thanks for the full + long answer.

But the question at court is:
What does Agfa say about correct installation of the machine,
is it a normal operation condition,
to operate the machine without the feet?

Does the machine moves oder swing while opreation?
as far, as I read in the manual, there is a motor inside with 45.000 rpm.

:D Just try to use 2 front feet/legs to touch the floor and turn 3/4 of whole turn extra, after that try to push the Avantra ... watch for your belly navel to be untied he-he :)

And 45K rpm has XT version, S- has 30K and regular just 20K with one kilo (approx) balanced rotor inside the spinner... you can feel some movement of the motor if you keep it in your hand :)
Dont worry about swing or movement...
Do you have On-line processor or stand-alone one?

And Installation procedure is a part of service manual which has a mark CONFIDENTIAL yet... sorry

Hi,

your answer (... watch for your belly ... ) is at the limit of my english knowledge.
Does it mean: 2 feet are just enouph ?

It is a stand-alone-machine.

It was sold second hand to a reseller, who now blames several missing parts, i.e. the forth foot
and the cable, which does not fit to the computers interface card.

Yours Bernhard

what does Agfa says confidential to the usage of the feet whil einstalltion,
needed or nice to have. ?

<<your answer (... watch for your belly ... ) is at the limit of my english knowledge.
Does it mean: 2 feet are just enough ?>>
Yes, that's enough... if the room floor is flat and horizontal your force (or power) not enough to move the AVANTRA which stays on 2 legs on the floor... if you are not a world champion of heavy-lifting :)
You do not need extra hight to adjust Avantra to On-line processor because your processor stays at another spot.
And previous owner lost (or forgot to include in the package) short cable to adapt long cable to PAC/UPAC board. That cable has two-row female plug at the one side and 3-row male plug at another side.
The part number is TX+067457-0001 Cable Assy, APIS adapter

AGFA said just only:"Level the imagesetter using leveling feet..." nothing special.
