Cant believe some customers just have one FTP folder that everyone has access to. Just spent the last hour have a good nose through one and can see all their customers work. Very bad!

On our FTP server we have folders for our bigger customers that can only be accessed by that customer, that is password protected for each of those customers. We also have a general folder for customers who are not concerned about privacy for their files. We also have an Admin folder, for company use only - other users cant see that folder. All users cant see any other folders except their own folder, or the general folder.

All our folders are restricted to that customer only, we have to be very careful as we handle sensitive data.

We pretty much do the same thing but we clean out the ftp folders on a daily basis so there is very little to snoop around and see - most times jobs are only in the folders for less than 2 hours . . . if they aint there you can't see em

Some FTP software can be set to do an action on uploads as soon as they complete. We've got some client specific logins for certain clients, but for blind client uploads we have the FTP server (CrushFTP) set to move the completed uploads to different folder as soon as they finish. That way no one else can get access.

For downloads we turn off the ability for the client to actually view the files and email out a direct link for them to click on. Unless someone guesses the exact URL, it's pretty secure.
