Embossing machines with spot varnish?

So my company has been seeing a new item rolling onto the market. To us it looks like an embossing machine that has the rasied letters, or deigns off the paper, but it also looks like the raised letters/designs have been spot varnished.. I know that book covers and movies have done this for a while, but now we are seeing them more and more. On business cards, and promotional items, like the cardboard on the back of tablets of paper..

My question is, are their machines out their that do both? Or is this a seperate operation?
