External Hard drives

Our LaCie drive has died waiting for a repair, we need to replace it with something ie large storage with raid config and network attached, any recommendations?? Looking at about 2 TB of storage or more . (Not getting a lacie dive again heap of crap!!!)

AJ .. . what computers/systems are you running? I have a Mac Pro and got two 2TB SATA drives and put them in the internal bays and used Disk Utitlity to make a mirrored raid - currently using it for time machine . . . . but you can do the same with externals on the Mac also - just wouldn't be a NAS drive but could be shared . . . . .
 
QNAP is good, we have a Synology NAS. Yes, a bit pricey, but well worth the speed, especially with rather large files and works with all OS's. 4K jumbo frames, very fast, no issues to date even after 3+ years of owning it using generic desktop class hard drives. 4 drive RAID 5 plus 1 hot spare (in case of drive failure).
