Finding a Printer for Wedding Invitations

I'm a freelance graphic designer creating my own wedding invitations. Can anyone suggest a printer (online or Cleveland area) to print a small run (100-150) of wedding invitations? I have looked around and none of the printers I've worked with on professional jobs do small runs at a reasonable rate. I'm hoping for Thermography but it's not a deal breaker. I refuse to print them myself on my craptastic inkjet and it seems my only other option is to buy someone else's designed invites. Help!

Thank you,
DesignerBride

*wasn't sure where to post this so I thought this was a safe bet. Please let me know if I should post it elsewhere. Thanks!

Hi, did you ever concider to buy your own printer? Machine like Oki C9800, Xante Ilumina, ES-3640e all about the same machine or Xerox WC-7345 or DC-240 if you actually print a lot? An Oki and WC-7335 will brake you wallet by about $2000 - nice used machine, DC-240 is about 7500. If you can live without thermography, relatively small investment will not take a lot of Square footage and $ but will surely give you lots of freedom.
Also there is a somewhat Unique machine called Canon ImagePress C1+,
The C1+ VS just a C1 model has a clear toner unit and can create a Spot UV like effect and somewhat raised printing of you overprint text with clear toner - it will surely increase the body and will feel somewhat like raised but You need to make sure that any of listed above can be supported as far as your local service.
I have 4 of Oki ES-3640e, 2 of WC-7345 and can get DC-240 or Canon C1+ should you deside it is a good idea.
You definatelly will need a cutter with all that....
There are hardly any good prices for short run as it does takes the same amount of effort to start a 200 page gob as it takes to start a 20,000 page job so that is understandable...

Thanks for the suggestion, but at this point I just don't have the time or money to research or invest in a high quality printer for my business. I've looked into it before and will definitely revisit the possibility in the future - i.e. after the wedding - but between finishing design projects for clients and planning the wedding I wouldn't have time to print the invites myself even if I already had a printer and knew how to use it flawlessly! Thanks so much for the comment though.

Any recommendations for a good local or online printer to print my invites would be greatly appreciated!!

being in the Milwaukee area, I can't really help you, though my shop would otherwise be more than happy to help. What you are going to want to look for is a quick print shop and/or a shop that has digital machines. If this is your business, check into a company called BCT. they are a wholesaler only so will want your business credentials before they work with you. they do raised printing and have recently branched into some full color work so they might be able to help with some of that.

it's hard not knowing what is in the Cleveland area, but I can tell your what to look for. depending on how complex your invites are, if you are looking for a lot of custom die cutting and things, you're going to want to find a smaller shop that handles short run product packaging, they will have the cost balance to produce what you are looking for at the best price.

If you have any other questions, just email me.

I am based in India and specialise in short run jobs on my GTO. If you send me your e-files and specs I would be happy to quote my best price for the job. We print conventional and UV offset on paper, foil and plastic. My email id is [email protected].

Designerbride;

We do thermography here. It sounds as if your job might be best done as a digital print with a thermographic layer added afterwards. We can do both. If you would like us to give you another option forward your file to our email address [email protected].

Warning: Your job would arrive sealed in shrink-wrapped plastic. This may result in a potion of the air inside containing Pure New Zealand air and may result in the overwhelming desire to travel south. If this occurs please consult your nearest travel agent..

If you are still reading and keen for our quote remember that the USA still benefits from a positive exchange rate.

We´re a Print shop located in El Salvador, we do a lot of specialty wedding and invitations using different techniques in offset, digital, letterpress, thermography and silk screen printing, sometimes mixing two or more printing processes in order to obtain really personalized results.
As for distance, there are different courier services that link our country to th U.S.
Also we´ll be visiting the National Stationary Show in NYC in a couple of weeks
