After moving from OSX to Windows 10, I really notice how slow FusionPro is on Windows. The funny thing is that while "Composing" a mail list today of 12,000 records, the CPU usage never rose above 5%. So what is taking so long if it isn't using the CPU? I have an SSD, so I don't see that being the problem either.

I am not sure either. We rebuilt the fusionPro Box a couple of years ago after being on some sort of intel celeron or duo chip. We moved to an i5 with 16 GIG ram and SSD and where shocked with the lack of increased speed once it started composing. If there are settings to make things faster I would be all ears

Perhaps the app has a strong preference for higher clock speeds per core. There are a lot of applications that are not optimized for crazy 8, 12 or 24 core rigs that are running 2.7 GHz per core or less. I'd take a look at any other hardware in the performance tab of task manager to see if that is the bottleneck. Are you running a 32 or 64 bit version? Important questions. If you're writing across a network from the PC whereas the Mac was writing locally, you could see huge hits to performance as well.

Although I cannot speak to the technical/hardware particulars of what might be causing the issue, when we first bought FusionPro, it was installed on a PC. We later bought a second license but didn't have any spare PC's so we put it on a Mac. We found the Mac was running circles around the PC (and this was with a regular spinning disk drive). We've since moved all our FP licenses to Mac's (they are model year 2007 Intel Mac Pro's). The Mac's have also been upgraded to SSD's and we enjoy even higher composition speeds now.

When talking to Printable/FusionPro a few years ago we were advised to use the Mac. The developer of FusionPro explained that the Acrobat Plugin is limited on the PC by Adobe Acrobat itself. This is a PC Adobe Acrobat issue. Yet on Mac there is no (speed/memory) limitation. We did some speed/composing test and ran quite a lot faster on the Mac! We're still using an older version of the plugin so am not sure if those limitations are there in the latest PC version.

It isn't even using one core very much. Everything is local on the internal SSD. I am really disappointed at Adobes lack of CPU utilization when it comes to multiple cores.

Sounds like a lazy excuse. We use Jetletter on PC which also does everything in PDFs and it's incredibly fast on an old PC (i5 2500 with 4gb ram and a standard hdd).

I moved my FusionPro to a custom pc with 32gb of ram, ssd, intel i5 or i7. And also did not see any compilation improvements. The gentleman I spoke with at the company said I'd also need to use the server version instead of the creator version.

Be very cautious with FusionPro on the Macintosh. Yes it is much faster but it is flaky. We produce election collateral and it randomly fails to render a vector image. Images miraculously appear when you mouse over or click on the page but do not always print. Can you say "disenfranchised voter?"
We have not seen the problem with the PC version. Everything points to the Apple PDF engine. In addition the PDF files produced on the Macintosh fail PDF validation rules. PTI says we need to upgrade to the PC server version $$$. Our customers want us to look at alternatives. Any thoughts for a high speed data and image merge with cut/stack and QR and bar code capability?

I use Xmpie and I am happy with it, however I have heard good things about jetletter.
