Hi!

Since yesterday our RIP (PowerMac 7600, MacOS 9.1, ECRM Harlequin-RIP 5.1) doesnt do his things.
We feed the RIP through a Spool-Folder with EPS-Files. The RIP beginns his work, but after a few second he aborts (Offending command).

The debug-log says:

Does anybody knows what "E715 Parameter value invalid." means? Thank you for all hints!

Hello Martin,
If I remember correctly the FTR has direct SCSI connection i.e. using the built-in single ended SCSI instead of a dedicated PCI card. Check the following :
1. Powermac rip hard disk integrity including bad blocks test. There's only one motherboard scsi controller for both the hard disk and external DB25 port, if it fails you get severe crashes, freezes or cannot boot the system. I say the rip is hardly the cause for your problems.
2. Check the long scsi cable carefully for damage, including end connectors.
3. The most likely cause is the imagesetter itself. Difficult to troubleshoot without a known good scsi interface PCB. There's also an internal hard disk buffer which complicates things further. If 1) and 2) above are checked you have to call a Screen tech to inspect the machine. I know a printing house dismantling such an imagesetter to sell for parts because the SCSI interface failed and could not find a replacement.

Unplug your SCSI card from your Mac, plug it in a PC. Download a DEMO HQ rip and see if the problem persist.

Do you have any other FTR 3050 or 3035 available any where near to you ?
IF yes then take all Computer staff including cable and see if it works with other machine or not, let me know for the next instruction
