New iMac's color calibration

I'm looking for feedback from anyone using the new iMacs for color accuracy.

Is it possible to get a decent representation of your hard proof on your iMac?

I don't need it for contract proofing, I just want to be able to do color corrections and have a decent representation of what will print.

We also installed a new iMac and found the calibration in system preferences did not do the job. iMacs are known to be too bright. We started using a monitor calibrator (Eye One) but were unable to reduce the brightness with the supplied software. With additional software from Integrated Color (Integrated Color Corp. Home of ColorEyes) we were able to bring the display very close to the rest of our Apple monitors. The software works with most calibrators and I think it is worth the money (about $350 including the calibrator).
