new modem

I have been running an old Comcast Motorola modem for years.
Now they want to send me a new updated one.
OK
But - I see, I am renting it for $8 a month.
What would be my best choice for a modem to purchase (for home)?
Simple - 1 Mac and 1 Mackbook Pro
both connected with Airport Express units.

buying your own. make sure you get a docsis 3.0 compatible modem -- most of them now are. you don't need an all in one unit since you have an airport express, so you might look at motorola's SB6121 or SB6141 since both of those are listed as compatible with Comcast's service. I have a 6141 and it works great. LEDs are bright but it's a solid device.

you've probably paid for that modem 20 times by leasing it. i've had comcast internet service for years and this is only the second modem i've ever bought and it was to upgrade to accommodate their faster speeds.
