Placing images in illy cs

hello

until recently, about a week ago i was able to place images into illustrator and the were behaving as links.
i don't know what happened but now i cant click on edit original or update link. does it embed it now? anyone knows?

Sounds like the little "Link" checkbox (in the lower left corner of the navigation window you use to select the image you're placing) has become unchecked. It happens sometimes. No clue why.
