Position Scope
The Plant Manager is responsible for leading and managing a manufacturing facility of approximately 150 employees to achieve safety, quality, service and productivity expectations. The facility generates between $30mm and $40mm in revenue annually and produces about 100mm impressions on 9 Komori printing presses. After being printed, sheets are run on 5 Bobst foil/emboss machines, 3 Sakuri silkscreen machines as well as various film lam machines and UV coaters. Through effective working partnerships with sales & customer service the manager is expected to meet demanding customer needs with optimized operational effectiveness. The Plant Manager is responsible for implementing manufacturing policies and programs that maintain and improve the company’s competitive position and profitability of the operation.
Key Position Responsibilities
• Improve productivity and decrease waste through the identification and implementation - of continuous improvement initiatives and projects
• Increase labor efficiency and utilization, including staffing and overtime
• Drive continuous quality improvement
• Meet demanding turnaround times from a customer base that is always looking for more
• Optimize inventory turns and reduce aged paper inventories.
• Ensure that customer expectations are consistently met or exceeded
• Direct management team to ensure productivity targets are monitored and achieved across all facility assets
• Ensure facility assets are appropriately maintained through planning and implementation of maintenance programs and procedures, including preventative maintenance and reliability programs.
• Partner with HR function to hire, train and evaluate team members. Assess performance and take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.
• Establish group and individual accountabilities through annual goal planning and performance reviews.
• Develop talent through assignments, job rotations, promotions to build bench strength and succession planning
Key Position Requirements
• 7 – 10 years of operational management experience with high quality sheetfed printing
• Proven leadership ability in manufacturing sites
• Strong business acumen
• Ability to build high performing and collaborative teams
• Technical and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate process improvement teams
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate vision/mission
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to motivate people
• Lean Manufacturing experience a plus
• Travel 10%
