Ive been getting more and more request for perfect bound booklets. If I could pick up one of these machines for around $500, what is a typical run length people will use for these machines? I've watched the YouTube videos on them and it looks like it takes about 30 seconds to produce a book. I'm guessing runs in the hundreds would be doable, but thousands doesn't seems to be. Does anyone have one and can you provide details on your run lengths?

We have one and it's a real clunker. It creates an incredible amount of waste, there are issues with the nipper plate that create inconsistent spines. There are likely ones out there in better condition, but I honestly can't see how it would take you less than one minute per book, even once you got into your groove on a perfectly functioning machine. It also doesn't come with a notcher (though there may be models where that's added?) so in terms of the glue, you have to either err on the side of too much glue and try the best you can to hide the glob inside the back cover, or risk putting not enough glue and having pages fall out. Both options are terrible, but it can be maddening to find a middle ground. On a tabletop binder like that, I'd say runs of 250-500 are reasonable, but more than that would probably be more of a liability than anything.
