Which laminating machine for Xerox prints?

Hi there,

Our old GBC Eagle laminator has just given up the ghost. Got 3 years out of it so best $150 I ever spent.

We ordered a GMP Surelam III but had temperature issues with the first and second machines before we told them to get it out of our shop. Attached you'll see the temperature spikes of the second machines as well as inconsistent temps across the roll. Measure is taken with button on machine and actual is taken from infrared thermometer.

We've looked at the GBC Discovery 380 Dual Laminator but have been told that it's essentially the same machine as the GMP of which we have no faith in.

Today we were given a price for a Minibond single sided machine however laminating single sided seems very inefficient.

What laminating machine do you run and what would you recommend?

We got a excelam gbc laminator 355 3 yrs ago for €1500 (ireland). Problem is both heat rollers have warped and need to be replaced costing €600 approx to replace. We weren't too happy about this and they have offered the labour free but still €400 for the rollers alone.

We have a DC242 at the moment and we use Ultrabond laminate which is extra adhesive and also extra pricey. No problems but does annoy us as it doesn't have to be too big a laminating job before its cheaper to outsource.

We use the Fuji A-Meister, which gives up to 5mil on two sides on the 12" x 18" sheet, right off the iGen 4 machine and no issues with the fuser oil either!

Look at the Drylam ALM 3220, you cal load up to 200 sheets. Or the Drylam Pluster PLS3310, It has a larger feeder with vacuum feed.

@pippip - That's the same machine we sent back. Was very unhappy with it and from what you've said it could have been worse if we'd have had a working one!

@realrdp @NPS - looks like a interesting machine. Will see if we have any local distributors.

Look at the Drylam ALM 3220, you cal load up to 200 sheets.

The Fujipla ALM3220 sure seems to be a favorite of customers of mine. Auto-feeding, auto cutting, and exit slitting. It's pretty dang versatile.
