White Overprint

I have a document in Illustrator CS3 and some outlined text have overprint attributes and some don't. When I import the .ai or epf file through backstage pilot and open in Packedge the type that had white overprint is missing? I have got burned on this a few times when client didn't provide a proof to compare. Is there a setting in backstage to convert white overprint to knockout?

Thanks for any info you can provide.
Mac OS X running Parallels
Esko suite 7.6

I have run into this before . .. what a lot of artists don't realize is that white is not an ink but the "color of the paper" and when its set to overprint it just disappears . . . I dont know about backstage but you can go into the illustrator file and use select same fill/stroke and remove the overprint attribute probably . . .

good luck

In your normalize ticket, overprint tab, make sure that White is set to Opaque, not PS overprint, see if that helps.

also, In Illustrator, make sure you turn on "Overprint Preview", and you will see it as it will RIP.

Hi,
Try to use Esko boostX plugin (free trial) with these tools:
1. bX Select Overprinting Objects - searches your document for objects that are in overprint.
2. bX Select Uncolored Art - searches your document for objects that have no fill color or stroke color assigned to them.

Instead of EPF-export we are using new Data Exchange Plug-in now.
You can download it here: Download the EskoArtwork Data Exchange Plug-in for free

Best regards,
Igor
