44 Hole-Punch Preprinted Media

I have a Canon C6010 and am printing 2 up on 11x17 80# paper. I'm cutting this down to 8.5 x 11 once printed and running it back through the machine as a blank document to 44-hole punch the sheets. I'm running into a bit of a problem...where there is heavy black text, it is coming off slightly on the proceeding page. How can I prevent this? I've heard of printers doing this so hopefully there is a solution. TIA

How much is one of the off-line punching equipment? The inserter on our canon is after the punch unit so it will not "go backwards" to punch.
