De-humidifier.

What is the true purpose of the de-humidifier on KM C6000? We purchsed one but are thinking perhaps it was a complete waste of money and should have bought a bypass tray instead (doesn't come standard with the machine here in South Africa)

The dehumidifier on the KM machines conditions the paper prior to feeding. If you are in a shop with inadequate climate control, the dehumidifier will turn on only when necessary.
If you are in a shop with good climate control where the humidity is regulated, you may never see it turn on.
If you are in a humid shop and it doesn't turn on, check your setting to be sure it is activated. Be aware: the dehumidifier has the ability to stop production. I've sat for 10 minutes while it was working to condition the stock. I only turn it on when it is extremely humid outside.

Buy a dehumidifier or run your A/C it is more productive than what's in your 6000. Think about how long that paper would have to sit in that tray before any real humidity is removed.
