Output is always less about 0.5"

Need more info, it could be a multitude of different things, some that could be specific to the brand or model of printer you're using. So, what printer is it? What media? Does this happen with all media that you use or is it just this specific media? Has the machine been calibrated for that...

Best way to finish Car Wraps? Lamination or UV coating?

Lamination is the way to go. And s101 is a great resource, just do your homework and use the search feature over there before posting, some of the members can be pretty rude to newcomers and 9 times out of 10 you can find the info you're looking for in old threads.

Google Fonts legal to use in Print Production

Google Fonts Quote from that link: I think that's about as cut and dry of an answer as you're gonna get. Sometimes free really is, well, free.

    U.S. oddness

New Jersey law states that you have to be trained in order to be able to legally pump gas. Don't know of any "gas attendants union", not sure where that rumor came from.

    Large Format Printing

For solvent machines Roland and Mimaki seem to be the best options, but I would also look into the HP latex machines as you don't need to wait 24 hours for the latex inks to cure before you laminate or hand it off to the customer. Roland has some machines with an integrated cutter, but I would...

    Prepress Tips for Designers

Love it, thanks for sharing. To add, and this is on the wide format side of things, no sir, I cannot take your 120px x 300px photo that you took with your phone and make you a 12ft x 20 foot banner with it... unless you want to look like you're in Minecraft.

    Best solvent wide format printer

We have a Roland VS-640, prints great and really haven't had any maintenance issues in the 2 years we've had it, but if I were to buy a new one today I'd almost definitely go with an HP L26500 latex printer with a Caldera RIP. Pair it up with a Graphitex or Roland cutter and a Royal Sovereign or...

Type of clearcoat for sealing printed artwork and photos?

Two that I've heard work pretty well are Clear Shield or Frog Juice, pretty sure both come in buckets as well as rattle cans.

    +1 for Crashplan, they're great.

    Problem with Repositionable prints

+1, that's the only aqueous compatible wall graphic media I know of. I haven't used their aqueous version but the solvent version prints great. As far as the issues with the print sticking to the wall, could be a few things: -I'm assuming you're wiping the walls down with a cloth to remove any...

    free software for prepress

It's a business model. There's no logical reason all software isn't free and open source, other than the almighty dollar (or whatever your local currency may be).

    free software for prepress

When I first started doing wide format digital printing all I had were Inkscape and GIMP for designing, didn't get Corel until about 6 months into it. It's definitely possible as far as just designing goes. The only problem I ran into was that Inkscape didn't handle Pantones at that point in...
