    Production printer advice please.

I have had both a C550 and a C6500. There is no comparison; you will not be able to pass off the work done on the C550. The 6500 is vastly superior to the 550. I would advise against purchasing the 550. Why are they insisting you get a 550?

Booklet imposition, bleed and Quite Imposing

No need to Shuffle/N-Up for a booklet. As long as the bleeds are defined, use Create Booklet. Here's a PDF of screenshots showing the sequence. If the bleeds are not defined, use the Define Bleeds first, then do the Create Booklet steps in the PDF.

    Double Sided Transparency?

I had the same request from a COLLEGE PROFESSOR! The look on his face when I explained why this was a bad idea was hilarious. I had another great request: A new restaurant opened across the street, and a young woman came in with a bingo card they had altered with their logo. She asked for 500...

Help in Konica Minolta Bizhub C6501

Banding Banding If the banding runs the length of the sheet (lead edge to tail) then it is most likely the coronas. If they run the width of the sheet, you are looking at new drum(s) and/or belt and/or transfer roller. Your best bet is to have a PM done by a trained technician. Disclaimer...

    Heat Exhaustion

That's what I'm talking about! Exactly what I had in mind. Has it made a real difference?

    Heat Exhaustion

I left out one important detail: it has to be CHEAP. Boss won't shell out the cash for a new HVAC or any major installations.

    Heat Exhaustion

Does anyone have any ideas for exhausting heat generated by our printers? I have a KonicaMinolta 920 and two C7000s. They generate more heat than my AC system can keep up with, and we are sweating bullets by mid afternoon every day. I am considering rigging up an attachment to the machine and...

starting small print shop. need advice

My simple advice is from a production point of view: 1: Make sure the 242 can deliver the same quality or better that your customers are used to. 2: Check the sheet to sheet registration carefully, and make sure your cutting is accurate. Manual cutters can be a real pain. 3: Get an extra...

Help in Konica Minolta Bizhub C6501

The parts you will want to replace yourself are the Coronas (chargers). If you have the know-how, you will also replace the drums, developer and sometimes the developer units and the belt. I would recommend having a trained service technician perform the scheduled maintenance. If you keep your...

    Digital finishing equipment

The MBM 352S is a decent entry-level folder. It doesn't have a counter though, so you either need to be very careful or install a third-party counter. The accucreaser does a fine job, but it is LOUD. We have 2 C7000s, and use the Morgana Digifold. Fully Programmable, score and fold in a...

    Bulk QR Codes

Not sure if this has been covered; my search of the threads comes up empty: Can anyone recommend a program for creating multiple QR codes in large quantities? Specifically, customer wants 50 lots of business cards, each one with a QR code that contains a vCard for that person. I would like to...

    How do they do it?

I've been in this business for 25 years, and until now, it has never dawned on me to ask this question: How and where are Pantone books printed? I would love to get a glimpse into their workflow to see how they keep so many colors perfectly consistent.

    De-humidifier.

The dehumidifier on the KM machines conditions the paper prior to feeding. If you are in a shop with inadequate climate control, the dehumidifier will turn on only when necessary. If you are in a shop with good climate control where the humidity is regulated, you may never see it turn on. If...

    Wall Color

I know the proper shade of gray for color inspection has been discussed ad nauseum. My boss wants to paint the shop mustard yellow. I'm having a hard time convincing him that this is a terrible idea that will make it impossible to see any printed color accurately. Can the community please...
