Help with a Grand Sherpa 50

Hi everybody. We have been using a Grand Sherpa here for almost 10 years, and the rip's computer finaly died on us. Our problem is with the rip software. We either lost the install disks or never got them in the first place. So now i'm wondering if anybody would know either : A- Where to get...

    Opinion of Quark 8

I think Quark is so outdated, I used to love it in the years of v3, 4, but when Cs2 came out, it was a huge jump in ease of use and options, and now with Cs4, the gap is wider than ever. Heres a few things : Placing tab stops in indesign vs quark, not a huge deal, but having the lines show up...

Xerox Docucolor 252 and Snow Leopard - help

Hi. We just ran into an install problem with 2 of our Imacs running snow leopard. We tried to install the latest drivers for our Xerox Docucolor, the install itself went ok, but when we create the printer in the Os printers, we get into some really weird problems. Using the lastest pdd, when...

    XmPie vs Darwin

Thanks for the info, have you tried putting the raised ink images in overprint mode instead of multiply? I was wondering if that would cut down on flattening time.

    XmPie vs Darwin

Hello. I have some questions regarding XmPie vs Darwin. First off, I need to mention that the extent of my knowledge on this is limited work with datamerge in Indesign and doing both XmPie Udirect tutorials. And I should mention we are planning to print this on a Kodak Nexpress which allows...

Reducing max. ink limit from above 240% to 240%

I guess you always have the option to open it in Acrobat, use the edit image tool, opens it in photoshop, change it there using the way you prefer, save from photoshop and it will update in Acrobat. Same thing with vectors with illustrator.

    Adobe printer with Snow Leopard

VERY interesting answers! I will start testing directly exporting and see how that goes, if I remember correctly, the problems we had were also some reincoding of fonts, letters changing to something else, so i'l try to find one of the files that had that problem and export with CS4 6.0.4...

    Adobe printer with Snow Leopard

Hello. I have an issue at work we are trying to resolve, up to now, on our workstations (IMacs), when we need to create a highrez pdf (pdfx1 most of the time) from Indesign (cs4, or 3), we don't use the export feature, because we have had some issues with it, specialy with fonts not showing up...

    Stroke end & InDesign

Hi. I have tried to duplicate this in indesign Cs3 and it doesn't do that for me. If I use the line tool and do an angled line, the top part is angled perpendicular to the line and the bottom part is at the same angle as the top. It almost looks like your line has an extra anchor point at the...

    Xerox Docucolor 260 Colour Problems

One thing, when you print, if the printer is setup correctly, make sure you select : printer color management, meaning, let the printer decide what profile it uses, if you are sending it a weird profile then that will change the colors alot.

copy and paste image from one Indesign document to another

If you really really want to use the box from the new document but the image from the first document, you can click the picture on the first document with the white arrow, copy, and then switch to the black arrow, go in the 2nd document and choose : paste into while having the box clicked with...

Spot black - Indesign or Quark

As chrisg42 said, I would go with layers, you put everything that will be common to all languages on a bottom layer and lock it, and everything that will change on layers on top of it. That can be done in either Quark or Indesign, but I do prefer working in Indesign for sure. So many more...

    Help needed for Grand Sherpa

Big thank you to VladCanada! Reading the manual, we saw something that looked strange in our settings and changing that option fixed the problem! What happened is our option for the cut positon had be reset to <standard> that meant that the printer always fed paper for the same amount as the...

    Help needed for Grand Sherpa

If its the hardware on the printer and not the rip, we have a service contract with Calgraph, the problem is the guy that comes doesn't seem to know the machine very good. As to the user manual, i'm not sure we ever got one lol. If I have to change the layout setup, what would you recommend...

    Help needed for Grand Sherpa

Quick update : what it seems to be doing is always think its printing the same size page, lets say, it always feeds for 48 inches total from the start of the page (in this case the roll). So if i print a 10 inch high page, it will feed for 38 inches, if i print a 38 inch high page, it will feed...

    Help needed for Grand Sherpa

I have tried a test print from the printer's control panel and it does not feed after it prints. I have also tried to send one page whitout queueing it (if you meant the ganging option, because that's the only way i know to send the page and not queue it). But even with the ganging off, it does...
