I’ve been in the industry since 1978. Started as an inkman on a 32 page heatset web letterpress, (open flame dryers), w/board folder w/split cylinder. I also worked on a couple of 16 page double ender heatset web letterpresses w/open flame dryers and board folders and an old newspaper press converted to print. magazines. Old press had a hand break on the spindle shaft end you had to hold during splicing. It printed 24 pages w/jaw folder. Worked on 48 and 96 page gravure presses as an inkman/roll tender for several years and filled in as an assistant pressman as needed. I’ve worked on single (16 page) and double web (32 page) heatset off set presses as a roll tender, a Didde ½ web double web heatset w/board folder and sheeter as an assistant and on a cold set web offset forms press with inline perf/punch and sheeter as an assistant pressman. I’ve worked on a couple of UV web forms presses with inline perf/punch and sheeter as a helper, and 2 or 3 Harris/Schriber forms presses. I’ve been a 1 and 2 colour sheetfed offset press and duplicator operator for 12 years or so. I ran 4 colour process on a Man Roland 202 for awhile, but mostly 1 to 5 pms colours on various presses and duplicators up to 40” sheet size including a couple of old OMSCA perfectors. My most recent was an AB Dick 9995A (ie ITEK 3985 or Ryobi 3302) with factory dampener, UV dryer, and spray powder unit.
