    Gapless vs. conventional advantages?

Clemens: I think you may be referring to two different styles. I'd refer to them as blankets and sleeves. Sleeves are steel, nickel, or fiberglass based tube that enters the manufacturing process to be converted with rubber. As rich said, the sleeve goes over the cylindar with compressed air...

    Experience with silicone (oil) solids

What's your experience with using a true 60% solid like Dow Corning Silicone vs. every Tom, Dick, and Harry product that's a blend with different surfactants and polymers for offset printing? I ask cause the oil is in demand by electronics and solar....

    blanket packings

I buy a lot of paper packing. I pretty sure it's all we use for web offset. I'll have to ask the crews about the underblankets? Strange, some plants like the packings long grain, and some use them short grain so the packings don't ride up the blanket. Can cause crack out on plate.

I'm trying to source out my own cost on why Nickel has droped on the LME exchange from $50,000 / tonne to $10,000 / tonne and suppliers in Europe seem to be...

    Roller Suggestions

Rubber / Urethane Rubber / Urethane I have manufacturing plants that use Urethane for the Duotrol water forms, ductors, and slip rollers et cetera. M3000 slitter nips, chill nip. Urethane properties tend to carry water with greater efficencies than rubber. Likewise, Rubber tends to carry...

    Roller Suggestions

I prefer Rotadyne for USA for run ability and performance. Several rubber compouds, and depending on my chemistry will swell less than 5% normally. They buy SKF bearings direct, and SKF does not sell to many companies direct. Most of the plants I've seen have a good ratio of capacity, low...

best way to re-sensitize chrome dampening roller?

Yeah, but ceramic will carry the water better if maintained. and, the ceramic is not a carcenigenic process like Chrome so good move environmentally, and per my studies...I've had ceramic water pan rollers in press for 5+ years where my chrome will start to "rust" or deteriorate after about 6...

Best method to press bearings onto the rollers

Yes, SKF is by far the best I've seen. We're currently testing a non-greese bearing from Peer manufactured in Thailand. SKF just recently acquired Peer. For our "BE" presses. We use a bearing puller and re-use most of our SKF bearings as they rarely fail and burn up the journals. We purchase...

    UV printing vs. conventional printing

Exactly, our UV cures right in line. Our only problem over the years was the bulbs we received from either the dealer or the maintenance tech that were causing issues.
