    Pulling Closed jobs

It's a tough sell for a single task. You have to view it as an investment in automating workflows, saving time and money while reducing errors. It's amazing how many small tasks can be automated with Switch -- in addition to the standards (preflight, convert to PDF, imposition, etc.)

    Pulling Closed jobs

We have implemented a couple of similar workflows for customers using Enfocus Switch. The migration can be triggered by database search to retrieve jobs that have shipped, for example. Switch is very good at moving files, renaming, creating directory trees, performing database queries, etc...

Complex PDF colorspaces include Indexed, ICCBased, Pattern, DeviceN and Separation. Simple colorspaces include all...

    Create a "read-only", printable PDF

I'd recommend using a digital signature to protect content in a PDF file. It won't prevent a user from making changes; however, the changes will be easy to identify. This is the same mechanism used by Enfocus' CertifiedPDF workflow.

"Critical parser failure: Color space resource missing"

I tore the file apart and found that a placed graphic had the following code: Q / cs 0 0 0 0 scn 0 G The problem that Acrobat is reporting is caused by the missing colorspace name after the '/' character. It should be something like: Q /CS1 cs 0 0 0 0 scn 0 G Looks like a bug in Indesign...

"Critical parser failure: Color space resource missing"

the error message would indicate that the PDF file is corrupt. Every graphic element in a PDF file has to have a colorspace. The colorspace can be simple, ie. RGB or CMYK, or complex, a ICC profile, spot color, color palette, etc. I'm guessing that it's a complex colorspace that is broken. I'd...

B&W scanned pages compress best with JBIG2 compression. Acrobat 8 & 9 can compress using JBIG2. So can Apago's PDF Enhancer. What problems are you having using Acrobat's PDF Optimizer? Dwight Kelly Apago, Inc. [email protected]
