New magnetic Laser-compatible stock - Digital Magnecote

10k sheets? on a KM8000? I guess printing single sided you don't have to worry about image registration LOL

    Recent experience with Vendor proposals...

while the CREO and the Fiery do pretty much the same thing, one can say "that computer runs 'Windows'"... some versions of windows run better than others. Creo was bought by another company maybe 6-8 years go, so their products may have gotten better, I don't know but the bitter taste of that...

Is an Imagerunner 5000 worth fixing?

yeah, someone with one *might* want it for parts... scrap yard is hard too, as with all the electronics they won't take it unless it was stripped to the frame. I would just put up a "*FREE* you come get" listing on Craigslist

    Xerox J75 - First Impressions and Review-ette

A3/A4 paper? you in Europe? Our machines actually might be slightly different then... I just hit 99k (and first drum change... didn't even "need" it actually) and 155k on the other... not bad for the first 5 weeks of use

Is an Imagerunner 5000 worth fixing?

1.1M isnt' a ton of impressions, but without a service contract of any kind any printer will be stupid expensive to repair/maintain. I have to agree, that kind of money would probably be best spent on something newer/better.

    Xerox J75 - First Impressions and Review-ette

any time a new machine comes out, there are always bugs... we were the first company in all of Denver to get a J75, it literally JUST came out. If you want to talk about "buggy", you should have seen the release of the Canon 7000VP LOL! Most are not "problems" per'se, I've just been...

how old is it, impressions, etc? I'm guessing being a church, it probably has a lot of miles.

anyone with registration problems with thier Konica 7000?

Lets see if this even will attach... this is my test file: 1" Squares, making an 11x17 image on a 12x18. Printed 1-sided you should have a perfect 11x17, printed 2-sided you can easily see registration as well as any stretch/magnification/reduction. All you need is a reliable inch scale

anyone with registration problems with thier Konica 7000?

oh, and just to let you know, if you can enter the maintenance panel on your KM, there is a "magnification" entry for side 1 and 2. Our KMs were all set to zero and couldn't print an 11x17 image on a 12x18 (front or back). The real problem with our KM650 was that if you entered a value big...

anyone with registration problems with thier Konica 7000?

shrinkage can be a problem... all depends on your tolerance for your final product, but a good design should have enough bleed to more than compensate. I have personally had issues on our old KM machines where you couldn't get more than 1 crop mark to align because they were printed skewed...

While I can't say to the quality of the CREO in the last couple of years, but I would highly suggest testing it and testing it HARD before committing to a CREO (*COUGH* Fiery EFI #1!). I had a CREO controller about 10 years ago, they were junk. Wouldnt' take a calibration even if you handed...

anyone with registration problems with thier Konica 7000?

very interesting to hear all your comments about the KM7000/8000... we had considered an 8000, but overall were not impressed with it. Honestly, I don't think we could have done better (cost for quality) than we got out of our Xerox J75s. Front to back registration is almost always damn near...

New magnetic Laser-compatible stock - Digital Magnecote

There is a new "Pre-Magnetized" laser-compatible stock available.. curious if anyone else has experiences with it? Nekoosa Coated Products- Digital MagneCote I can give my little experience running it... it is an interesting twist on printing media to say the least. It comes *Pre-Magnetized*...

Need to Print in Silver Metallic or White on Envelopes

Alps gets my vote... if you want to do it in-house. Alps is what we use for printing gold foil on certificates. I don't know about printing on envelopes, as well as most printers do not print very close to the edge... if you have a LOT of them to print, the Alps is *slow*, I would recommend...
