Ink order for 4 colour process...

Back trap from the high volume of Cyan and Magenta and minimal Yellow. Reduce the Yellow ink and possibly add take off bars to the Yellow plate to allow more ink coverage. This will help with the back trap issue.

Got them, minimal help at best. Also hickey picker rollers.

    Hickies

OK, you are running an sheetfed offset press as a board printer. Your boss says he wants you to come up with a way to eliminate hickies from the process. What do you tell this person? How do I eliminate not reduce the amount, eliminate!

    Pit under press

This is something I would do. It will make maintenance or repairs in the future much eaiser to perform. Try crawling under one of these machines with about 12" of clearence, no fun after it has been is service for a year or two.

    Pantone+ Plus Reflex Blue C

Get your ink supplier to give you maximum strength and your prepress department should help you with the dot gain that you will have with any screens. Craftmanship in this industry is going, going and just about gone.

    Cracking Rollers

We are a pretty high production plant and change rollers out as much as twice a year. If you want print quality you better have good rollers to start with and take care of them. Rollers just sitting in a press will dry out, crack, have flat spots etc. Try using roller lube if the press is going...

    Plate Catch up

Check you pressures on this unit. Is the plate and blanket packed to spec, make sure you are not over packed. Check each of your plate form rollers to your vibrators, if the strip is to heavy especially on your last form it will scum or tint.

    defect free pharma cartons

Hey brother we just order double the amount of cartons we need and print. Who cares how much you toss in the garbage as long as they pay you to do it. All kidding a side I have never heard of anything so rediculous is my career and I have been around the block. You won't be in business long if...

    Orange Peel

Orange Peel ? Orange Peel ? First are you running coating when you see this Orange Peel. I find in my plant orange peel is related to coating or the surface of the board we print on. If is the look of the ink on paper I would ask your rotation. If it first down on a multi color press it...

Best method to check roller stripes

This should be self explanatory if you know your way around the pressroom. If not I don't think I could provide pictures that would help.

Best method to check roller stripes

Lets try this method. If you do not have all new rollers in your press, chances are the circumference is not true. So just dropping your rollers to the plate will not be effective. These next steps have never fail me. 1. Make sure your rollers are evenly inked up. 2. Plate is dry. 3. Now drop...

    UV Opaque White

I agree with two hits, but gave no thought to the lower acid. Will give that a try. Does anyone recommend a particular white or vendor. Most of our experience was with Flint, Wikoff and Superior. The last being the best in my experience. Last question, do you adjust the opaque white before...

    UV Opaque White

Old problem with no answer. For about 14 years I was an offset pressman running stricktly UV inks on foil board. Now I am a supervisor running into the same problem. Problem: While running Opaque White we get a very light haze over the entire sheet. If you ran your finger across the sheet it...

MAN ROLAND 300 / tail wrinkles / distortion

A test was run before making any changes to the press. The test was nothing more than truning off the IR lamps and running 10,000 sheets. Wow no more wrinkles, after this test the front guides were adjusted and we continued to run with no IR lamps. Hundreds of thousands of sheets have been run...
