Square Spine instead of saddle stitch?

I have a Duplo (Watkiss) in-line with a DBM-500...very nice output quality, almost like a perfect bound. In my opinion it's a must have on thicker books.... however, I use it on almost all books just to improve the product and reduce packaging hassles.

    duplo system 5000

Specs are Closer to 25 sheets...however even 20 sheets is pushing it for saddle stitching on the DBM-500 unless you have the square spine module. -Mark

I need helpr to decide, Buzhub -8000, Ricoh, cannon, zerox

I'm a bit late to the thread, but if you didn't pull the trigger yet, here's my two cents: The SD506 Saddle stitcher is a decent unit, I have one connected to a KM1200 and previously had it connected to a C7000. I typically feed it gloss text or cover, that has been cut and creased on a Duplo...

    Konica Minolta C6500 + FD-501

I'm considering adding a 501 to my 6500 with an IC-408 as well. Not sure if this this true, but I've heard from a couple folks that the internal fiery (408) will NOT run the 501 saddle stitch unit. You will need to upgrade to the IC-303 external fiery. I think you also need the ru-503/4 relay...

KM SD-506 Saddle Stitcher throughput expectations

JayDA, By running at rated speed do you mean the machine does not pause or hesitate on printing when it's making booklets? For example, your C8000 does 80ppm, so you get 1.33 letter impressions per minute. If you were making a 16 page booklet using 8.5x11 stock to output 5.5 x 8.5 booklet (1...

KM SD-506 Saddle Stitcher throughput expectations

Craig, Thanks for the info. Are you printing the booklets all on the same paper (guts and cover the same) as one job, or or are you running separate covers and inserting them into the job? I've heard the 506 has some trimming limitations, especially with heavier covers. Mark

KM SD-506 Saddle Stitcher throughput expectations

Hi Guys, I currently have both a KM C6500 and C7000. I’ve been landing a few more booklet jobs lately, and I currently use the light duty FS-612 to produce them. This works fine for small orders and books with 2 or 3 gut pages and the cover, but anything thicker really needs face trimming...
