We sourced all our material from Kelly Spicers. I believe it was their own generic Kelly brand of 13oz scrim banner material we used. It's been a couple of years now since I ran that machine, but the big takeaway was always finding the right media setting. Sometimes you can download it from the...
Here is my latest video on how to set up bleed, borders, grommet marks and job info in hem area for banners in Adobe InDesign & Acrobat.
I know these features are already built in for software like Flexi and Onyx, but I figured I'd show a way of doing it without the additional software.
Let...
I would agree with the boil bound option. More chances the book will stay together that way. MGX synthetic paper is the best IMO. We've have mixed results on our Ricoh using Nakoosa, but much more consistent coverage with MGX brand.
I see what you mean. Normally it shouldn't be a problem, however, because that area is going to fall into the gutter of the book. Most of the time anything within 5-10mm (depending on book thickness) will fall into the gutter and not be able to be seen anyway, so you wouldn't even notice it. If...
Video I just did to show how the new Generative Expand feature can help with missing bleeds and extra white space on images. Similar feature that Photoshop has, but this is built directly in InDesign now. Hope someone finds it useful.
I did a video awhile back on how to set up a pre-flight profile to raster PDFs:
It doesn't deal with trapping, but it's a quick way to raster a multi-page PDF file.
Dov, you are the GOAT! A very detailed explanation of the proper way to utilize and output those colors.
My video does not go in near the detail you explain above. I simply was trying to show a way to change out those colors quickly using a preflight profile. Yes, the glaring example is the...
Video I did answering a question to a post on Reddit. Designer was using InDesign mostly for digital content so all their swatches were in RGB, but occasionally they wanted to output to CMYK and maintain their clients branding standards. I made a little example of how this can be achieved via a...
That was one reason why I suggested using linked InDesign files instead of doing the design work directly in the "Master" file. Plus, in the example I gave in the video, the customer would supply us with InDesign files already, so there was no need to copy all the work they already did, I would...
I know it's still in Beta testing mode, so I'm sure there are going to be some tweaks to it. Like @gordo said, I don't it's right if the photographers aren't getting their credit. I just made the video to show people how their can use the feature.
Just did a video on the new feature in InDesign called "Text to Image". Basically allows you to search for stock images to use in your design, directly from within InDesign.
