    Battle of the 400

We have put millions of impressions onto our KM C1100 and have run 16pt in it, about 350gsm give or take. I runs great 1 sided, sometimes we have trouble duplexing, just depends on the coverage. We are awaiting our new 6100 and will be putting the 400gsm in it, so we'll see. The best thing about...

    Spot colour problems

It has been my experience that if you have multiple versions of any of the Pantone books in there, it absolutely does matter which version you are using and sending. Just my 2 cents.

    Spot colour problems

I have run into this issue and it could be a couple of things. 1. the colors in the file need to match one of the books you have - for example, Pantone 321 C from the plus series is not the same as Pantone 321 C from the V3 plus series. This matters. 2. If printing from indesign I have seen...

    The Goodbye

Hey I was given a cake and digital camera as a going away present back in 2006 when I left a company. They aren't all bad goodbyes.

    Pitstop 13 - duplicate page

For a single page you could just open the page thumbnails on the left hand side of the screen in acrobat and option-drag the page icon to the position you want it to be and it is done. However the action is useful for larger documents.

    Suggestions On Selling Print Company

I work for a company that was bought by another within the past year. From what I understand, the deal that was struck was a purchase price for the equipment being transferred and then a schedule of percentage of sales that gradually drops to 0% by the end of year 5. I am not privy to what those...

I haven't really tried to deal with this. We've just accepted it as acceptable waste.

Can konica 1100 PRO black printer do mix media? and how?

Pulling from different drawers can also be slow ( at least it is for us) the very best way is to use collated paper.

Lead in space on Roll paper (Epson 9800)

you need to select "single cut" under the "Roll paper Settings". If it is greyed out, then you need to go back to the "Printer Settings" menu and under "Page Setup" figure out which roll setting will make it not be grey. I usually have really good luck with "Roll Paper-Borderless-Retain Size"

    Ricoh C7110 Scratching coated stock

They need to escalate the issue to Ricoh corporate and have the engineers look at it if the techs can't figure it out. It is never acceptable to have scratches. Our Konica scratches Kromekote when we duplex and we now have had it escalated to Konica-Minolta corporate and are awaiting an answer.

Can konica 1100 PRO black printer do mix media? and how?

I have a PF 709 on a KM c1100 and I run NCR as well. You can run collated NCR, this is fastest, or you can run the different colors out of the 3 drawers. I have attached an image of where I setup the separate drawers in the fiery.

    Photoshop instead of RIP

Why not place your images into an indesign file and print from there? It handles all kinds of file types without needing to rasterize or change in any way. It also has features that could be akin to imposition software or you could even find or write your own scripts to impose. Just a thought.
