    Integrating a DAM and a MIS/W2P workflow

We're about to make the leap to an automated MIS/W2P workflow. (Avanti, Xerox, Hiflex etc. ) Woohah! With the first phase of a DAM (North Plains - Telescope) in place for photography, design, prepress & print files already in place, I'm wondering if any organizations have successfully...

    Create a "read-only", printable PDF

Thanks guys/gals for the quick responses.... ultimately any digital file is unlockable/editable. As it stands, I'm the end cog in a vast government bureaucratic quagmire and the top dogs' assistant wants to create a lockable pdf that she can submit to a variety of media/organizations without...

    Create a "read-only", printable PDF

Is it possible to create a "read-only" (locked) printable pdf. When I drop a security-enabled Adobe Pdf in my Agfa Prepress V6 CTP workflow, it flushes it as expected. Is there anyway to lock the content and still print the PDF? thks joe

Differences in proofs to offset and coated stocks

Thanks for all the replies. You sure did point me in the right direction. The Task processors have revealed some hidden gems in them - lots of variables, just gotta figure out the right combinations. Overall though, not impressed with Agfa's telephone response (even with a multi-year $XX,000's...

Differences in proofs to offset and coated stocks

Thanks colorblind for the push in the right direction.... Any good "educational" sites or books on profiling available? Called Agfa earlier but its' a holiday in the US (I'm in Canada). Had other jobs to process so didn't want to wait on hold. Although I was a member of the Apogee User forums...

We only have SherpaProof Base Satin paper that we print through an Epson 9800. We are running an Apogee X system to an Avalon/Azura. The proof look immaculate and sharp and...

Differences in Postscript files from different OS

Re: Differences in Postscript files from different OS I'm not concerned with file sharing at this point, right now we use a underutilized G5 as a local server before backing up our work to Appleserver then to our Novell network. (Thats were alot of problems reside, but thats not my concern or...

Differences in Postscript files from different OS

Keep getting told by "IT" that they can't deploy "Tiger" macs because Tiger can't see our "soon to be replaced" imagesetter still running on a G3 under OS 8.6. Our Panther Macs can access the G3's spool folders on a daily basis with no issues whatsoever, since we simply drop postscript files...

    Agfa Avalon

Re: Agfa Avalon Are there any light sensitivity issues with manually feeding Agfa plates. I've been told that an Apogee/Avalon ctp workflow (minus plate manager) is out on RFQ and should be awarded before years end. I'm told we'll be manually feeding plates for 4 different size presses (KBA...
