    Hostmann-Steiberg Inks

As for GREAT....i would not call them that. As of late they seem to take feedback with deaf ears. We tell them (tech and sales) what we see and what we want to see changed and the next time they come in we tell them the same thing and they act surprised. "Ooh I didn't know that was an issue"...

    Hostmann-Steiberg Inks

They are made in India and I believe they are now producing in Canada. We just had a batch of UV inks come in from Canada which is suppose to be the "same formula" but have had nothing but issues with it. We are running an 835 series UV with succuess. At our old shop we ran Reflecta on our...

Grafech E-Cut System on a KBA Rapida 162...

I'm looking for companies that have the Grafech E-Cut Roll Sheeter System on A KBA Rapida. We currently have one on our KBA Rapida 162 and are having issues. Some say its a timing issue, some say it's a static issue. With no solid answers from any end of the spectrum I am reaching out to...

Best suggestions of hybrid blankets for coventional/uv ink

Cornish, that would be great but our 164 has a perfector (running 4/4 process) and even if we could perfect it without marking, there's no lamps aiming at the downside of the sheet to cure. I have however done similar when running straight print jobs with no coating. Just cure it in the...

Best suggestions of hybrid blankets for coventional/uv ink

RJ, its a 47x64. So far it feels pretty good. I've been running a Rapida 105 8/C perfector for 6 yrs. before this so a lot of the functions, buttons and characteristics are very similar. We had a larger run last night (20,000) running UV so i'll be interested to see how the image retention...

Best suggestions of hybrid blankets for coventional/uv ink

It's a brand new install. With this being my first uv press it's hard to tell. I would say there does appear to be a little too much light on the blanket though. Blanket washers are not as effective in those units with lamps. And the image retention is worse.

    Strike-Through tips. . .

On our last run the matte area had a orange peel effect on it and it looked like the UV was overpowering the matte varnish. I thought I wasn't running enough matte so I pushed it stronger with no change. I'm not positive but it may be due to running incompatible varnish and uv coating. We...

    Strike-Through tips. . .

So when you say you are laying down the gloss varnish and then the dull/matter varnish, do you mean you're basically doing a double bump of the two varnishes over the same specific image? What does that achieve differently than just the matte/dull varnish alone before the overall AQ or UV...

Best suggestions of hybrid blankets for coventional/uv ink

You're right RJ. I don't know what i was thinking about the Kryptons. They are strictly UV. Thanks for the tips on the Ebonys and Prisma blankets. We're running a KBA Rapida 162 with an Air Motions system.

    KBA 81" presses - where?

The company I work for just installed a Rapida 162 64" KBA 8/c perfector with UV/AQ coater. We are capable of printing conventional or UV and also have roll to sheet technology on that press. I am one of the pressman on this press. Email me if you would like additional info or contacts. We...

Best suggestions of hybrid blankets for coventional/uv ink

Hey guys, Just looking for your opinion on the best hybrid blankets for conv./uv print. Currently using Prisco Kryptons, which are really stiff and a pain to lock in. We also use Prisco Ebony, which are the exact opposite. They are extremely flimsy. When loading them, the last 6"-8" of...

2nd house paper. is it worth it?

My last employer used 2nd house paper religiously. There's reasons its at a 2nd house. We constantly pulled jobs due to defects, damaged stock, improper labeled stock (#80 txt when the label says #60 txt) etc. Job quality started going downhill along with their client base. What use to be a...

    Strike-Through tips. . .

Hi guys, I was wondering if you had some tips to running Strike-Through. It's a new process for me so any info would help. We're currently running a Prisco dull effect varnish with the Prisco UV Coating. Do you run the varnish heavier, lighter, normal?? Run your dampening heavier, lighter...
