A toy or worth considering?. Perfect binder (sort of)

I know most will say a toy. See photo. But here is the context-

Cheap as chips to purchase
Often get request for super small runs (less than x50)
Even it only suitable for uncoated stock it could still be worth it.

Has anyone out there had experience with a similar machine?. This configuration rather than the traditional design of perfect binder. I'm figuring the exact brand of this one in the photo doesn't matter to much. (at the purchase price if something breaks I'll just bin).
Capable of binding to a reasonable quality?. (preferably both coated and uncoated stock)

Interested too to hear us first hand experience on these.

We have one and have produced some very pleasing books with it. Not great for small spines as you cannot get enough glue on them, but for spines of 5mm+, where you can get enough glue into it, it does a good job for the money. We always pre-creased the spines in 4 places to give a 'spine hinge' and let the glue run down into this a bit. Best piece of advice with one of these is to use Planamelt-R glue pellets. We tried other brands, but Planamelt-R always gave the best results.

Yes, so long as it's the Planamelt-R glue, you use a few passings of the 'rougher' and gluer and it's more than 5mm spine, we've had good results on coated.
