    UV coating over Digital?

Not sure which machine it'll be coming off of, but probably the iGen or Nexpress. What is the fusion oils? Just asking because I'm sure once I've attempted this and succeeded, the sales dept will want to try more! Lol!

    UV coating over Digital?

Has anyone done offline UV coating, offset, over top of print that has been done digitally?

    Strike Through Varnish

Hey amgd1972, I've been working with UV inks, varnishes & coatings for about 7 years, and I've found that the Special Effect varnish & UV coating from ACTEGA (formally Kelstar) works very well. Check with a local rep to find out what combination would work best for you. Cheers R

    Kba rapida 75e

I ran a KBA 105 for 4 years and thought it was great. BUT... having said that, I've never ran a Hiedleberg. ManR, Komori and Sakuri, I have. The 105 had almost all the bell and whistles; UV,perfector, coater, extended delivery = sweetness! :)

Best practices for storing Printing/UV blanket

Is there any other way to store them? What do you mean after use? Do you change them after each job?

    Using powder & UV lamps?

It is funny you would say that Servicetech, it seems to be such a real catch-22 with powder. ManR tell me that powder is explosive with UV lamp, but ok with IR. I get that, because UV lamps are much hotter, BUT... I know of another company in town that has ManR presses, which are UV, and they...

    Using powder & UV lamps?

There are a couple of reasons why I would like to use powder. Firstly, we use a hybrid UV ink, which normally cures well enough for most jobs, but sometimes on the jobs with rich blacks on certain stocks, powder would help dry. Secondly, when we run heavy text and use UV gloss coating, powder...

    Using powder & UV lamps?

I'm looking for some answers about using anti-offset powder with delivery UV lamps. I used to run a KBA 105 with a Grafix system, which allowed me to use the powder with the lamps operating. Now I'm running a ManRoland which doesn't? Almost the same Grafix system, but it's ManR that says it...

    Coating Dilution with H+B Recirculator

Also, the air bladder at the top of the probes could have a split. This too could also lead to water getting in during the start up...after a AQ washup.

    Soft Touch (feel) Aqueous Coating

Yes Maralyn, that is one of the problems with soft touch coating. It will scratch or scuff a bit. If giving enough time to cure will lessen the effect though. Good luck. If anyone has better info, of maybe a different product, pls feel free time chime in!

tacky printing paper sticks like brick

You also should check that you are using the correct powder. There are many who "claim" they are the best. I find that a coated powder is best, around 27 micron in size, but you can always try a larger size. Best of luck :)

    Do I need Aqueous Coating

Absolutely! AQ coating will help you with not only glossy levels but with the ability to work and turn without much dry time. I believe it is a great choice! R

    Soft Touch (feel) Aqueous Coating

Thanks for all of your replies. :) I have recently changed companies and am working on a ManRoland again. Funny thing is that it has no problems with soft touch. Having said that, it does have 4 different sizes of anilox rollers, capping out at 25 BCM. Just had to play with the pressures and...

    Inline perfing

We ran the PPP system on a KBA 105 Rapida, 8-colour perfecting with end coater. Unfortunately, I no longer have the info for this system. Most of my answers would be via memory, but would do my best. I am sure if you look on their website there would be a Q & A area. It was a really easy system...

Inline Varnish vs a seperate pass

Inline varnishing - can you say " Gas ghosting!" major con. Racking the job, major con. One pass, either side, major pro. Quality versus speed... you decide.

Strike thru varnish w/UV coating and perfecting

You must be using the Kelstar product #18 ? One option to look at, which is not as glossy - depending on anilox roller size and type of gloss coating, you could try a UV matte varnish and a AQ gloss coating. You achieve the same effect, but the gloss is not as shiny.

KBA ink ductor timing and Densitronic S

Hey Colornumber9; We have been running our KBA 105 Rapida for almost 3 years now, and we have found it is easiest and better to leave the timing on 100%. Unless you are running something that has very little colour and prepress has not put on a "takeoff bar", then you may want to reduce to 50 or...

    Rough feel of UV varnish

Hi Scott, I run a KBA 105 Rapida. How do you mean " thinking about getting in to it?" Cheers, Rob

    Inline perfing

I agree with the PPP system. We used it for a job that was on 7 pt reply card, 4/4 perfected and the PPP system on our coating unit. It was a 500,000 run and had perfs and scores. This saved our company thousands of $$. Just set it up and run... but watch out for the static charge that builds up!:D

    non-stop feed and delivery

I have to say that I must be blessed with a better work environment than most pressrooms. We have a pile turner, AND we also use our continuous feeder and delivery. I'd like to use the feeder aspect more, but with some stocks, the quality has taken a real dive, so the amount of filler or calcium...
