Low res output from Quark 7 to Nexus workflow

Re: Low res output from Quark 7 to Nexus workflow I stand corrected, it does appear that it has been fixed with 8.5, but I'm still gonna stick with impo and scatters in InDesign. I just like it better. Have you noticed then when outputting "In-Rip Separations" from QX7, it doesn't include the...

Low res output from Quark 7 to Nexus workflow

Re: Low res output from Quark 7 to Nexus workflow If you save the page as an EPS and use RunFile on that EPS, it will work. Printing RasterPages from QX7 through Nexus does not. We experience so many problems with QX7 (font reflow, graphics dropping out), we build our scatters and impositions...

    Colored Images in InDesign

Re: Colored Images in InDesign I'm guessing it's a RIP issue. A grayscale TIFF placed in IN5 and colorized with a process color (c=100 m=90 y=10 k=0) maintains it's CT type through my Nexus RIP when printed with In-Rip Separations or as Separations.

    Moiré problem....

    Moiré problem....

Re: Moiré problem.... Well if your seeing the moire on screen, then playing with printing angles isn't going to gain you much if anything. Your seeing the problem BEFORE its getting screened, so screening is not the source of the problem. I would try making certain the the image is placed at...

    Moiré problem....

Re: Moiré problem.... The most common trick I use is to output the yellow at a different line screen than the other three colors (y=150, CMK=175). This won't help you if the fabric has a pattern that is conflicting with the screening, but it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. If the fabric is...

InDesign CS2 black type not showing in color pallet

Re: InDesign CS2 black type not showing in color pallet Nevermind! I was thinking faster than I was reading.

InDesign CS2 black type not showing in color pallet

Re: InDesign CS2 black type not showing in color pallet Try creating a "KO Black" process color swatch of 100% Black and apply it to the type you want to KO. Somewhere in InDesign preferences, the "[Black]" swatch is configured to overprint which is typically a good idea, but not always. By...

    distilled water

Re: distilled water Ideally we start with a conductivity of 44. To be honest, I'm not the individual that maintains our plate processor. However, after reviewing logs, it appears that we refresh the chemistry around 1800 square feet regardless of the developer conductivity. We use a manual...

    Cutback not working!!

Re: Cutback not working!! I tried that initially, but since the under colors (40 cyan, 30 magenta and 30 yellow) are not 100%, this setting had no effect. I still have not had an opportunity to upgarde to 8.5.3. I'll let you know if this fixes it.

    distilled water

Re: distilled water Looks as like we keep our conductivity between 43.0 and 45.0

    distilled water

Re: distilled water With our Fuji processor, we need to use distilled water because the measure of the developers' usefulness is determined by is conductivity. Tap water has a number of minerals that would increase the conductivity reading but not actually be "good" developer.

    Changing rich black

Re: Changing rich black Thanks Matt! I've used Global change a thousand times and never noticed you could select a range, probably because I was always "grabbing" the color.

    Suitcase Fusion and Quark 7

Re: Suitcase Fusion and Quark 7 I haven't had a problem with QX7 seeing fonts activated in Fusion after QX7 was already running. I'm running on a OS 10.4.9 on a PPC box. I know that Intel boxes don't work the same fonts and apps. If your using a Intel box, that may be the source of your issue...

    CID Identity H fonts

Re: CID Identity H fonts I agree with Leonard, its time to upgrade your RIP. We too had problems with CID fonts in PDFs when dropping to a Hot Folder for our RIP. Often, we could work around this by placing the PDF in InDesign and printing from there (I'm a old school Command-P pusher, I print...

    Changing rich black

Re: Changing rich black CTs are Photoshop images or scans. You can use Acrobat's Edit Object tool to open the images in Photoshop to make the needed edits. You might also need to do it a couple of times. If the built black varies in CMYK values, you'll need to do it for each variation. Glad I...

    Changing rich black

Re: Changing rich black Would using "Global Change, Change Color" achieve what your looking for? With a "built black" element selected, you could "Grab" the fill/stroke and change it to 100% Black. I do it quite often, but this won't fix blacks in CTs. Edited by: GinSu on Nov 28, 2007 4:58 PM

    Cutback not working!!

Re: Cutback not working!! Well EAWS says it works correctly for them, they are running 8.5.3. They gave me a workflow to try, I get the same incorrect results. I'll upgrade sometime next week and see what happens. Hopefully the "Unknown Error" in the Raster Trap module is also fixed. I'm still...
