    Calibrating a DI press...

We're located in Toronto, Canada. As for running it as a special colour - I'd rather not. I'd like to find a profile that works for all jobs and stick with it for the time being. I have an i1 Pro Specrophotometer, could I use that take take readings manually and enter them into the rip to...

    Calibrating a DI press...

So I'd been using Konica Machine to get into the paper printing market, and recently bought a QM DI press, with a new copy (new to me and to this press) of Harl. 5.3. I printed a few simple jobs with no big colour issues, but now I'm doing some complex sell sheets with what are suppose to be...

Which UV Coater for Digital Shop??

What coating are you guys using? The TEC coating? We have an old K2 Coater we just bought and I find it doesn't bond well to the konica prints (esp. high coverage). I'm wondering if it could be an old bulb though perhaps?

How is your shop's floor plan setup?

I'm moving into a new huge space (for us atleast) and we currently have most of our production area devoted to our large format print division (4x8 sheets) but now we plan to add a small offset press (most likely a DI) and a bunch of finishing equipment in the new space. We have about 10,000 sq...

    Windmill Presses - different options?

Im looking at getting windmill to add some finishing options for our shops, but I'm not to familiar with them. Are there different models that have different options? We'd like to do foil, perf, die cutting, embossing and numbering with the machine. I see quite a few for sale, but I'm not...

Anyone familiar with the Mitsubishi line of presses?

Interesting info - I really apprecaite it! Cornishpastythighs - Out of curiosity, which manufactures are considered the big three? Heid, Komori, Sakurai and? Also - what are the plate costs like on a machine like this? And is really capable of doing 10-12k impressions as advertised?

Anyone familiar with the Mitsubishi line of presses?

I was initially looking at getting a QMDI or something entry level, but my hope is that I can pickup the asssets of this shop for sub $80k; and spend the money I save on some good operators to run the machines. Local Mitsu guys said it would be about $10k to re-do the grippers and give it a...

Anyone familiar with the Mitsubishi line of presses?

There is an auction coming up for a bankrupt print shop and a 6 color mitsu press is on the block, amongst other stuff. Anyone know anything about these presses? It looks to have been manufactured in 1995 or so (from what I can see on the plate on the side). Pics are attached. Do you know...

    Just bougth a used MBM cutter = Readout reads " 1 1 1 1 " and won't respond?

Just bougth a used MBM cutter = Readout reads " 1 1 1 1 " and won't respond? I just bought a used Triumph 430E cutter, and I tested it at the place I bought it and it worked fine. Drove it home, but now on the screen it reads " 1 1 1 1 " and won't do anything? Could I have damaged it moving...

What do you pay your pressman?

Perhaps, but I'm flexible on the shift - and I'm not looking to pay a premium because of the shift. I'd be happy to run it from 7 or 8pm if it makes it easier on their home life. Its up to the employee to know their own situation before taking the job in my opinion. It would be different if I...

What do you pay your pressman?

Hi All, i'm a digital printer looking to move into the offset market with a DI press. We're looking at training one of our own guys, but also bringing in an experienced guy to do an evening shift from 5-midnight to get us rolling. I'm curious to know what the hourly pay range is for pressman...

    LINES on z6100

Andy - Go spam somewhere else bud.... k? As for your questions, looks like one of two possibilities - one being a dirty head, but I'm leaning more towards ink starvation or an air leak. When you clean the head the damper fills back up with ink, and its fine for a bit, but as your printing it...
