To curve color bar or not

I know many press operators who would disagree with that statement. Screened patches of known values are nice to use when determining dot gain.

    When to Shingle?

I calculate creep on anything 24-pages and higher. If the total push-out is less than 1/16" than I don't even bother with an adjustment.

    Looking at Platesetter

Was it previously under a service contract? What kind of RIP is it coming with? How many plate has it imaged? Is there any automation? That being said/asked... Screen devices are rock-solid.

    Extended receipts

I have used them. Especially at fast food restaurants. If the experience was as to be expected I don't do it. But if it was exceptionally good or poor I'll participate.

Kodak puts flexo business up for sale

I'm speechless. Is selling off NexPress in the future? George Eastman must be rolling in his grave (technically he was cremated).

    Traps in Proofs

As I am finding out, most flexo shops only send a PDF proof for approval. In the offset world, nearly every job had a physical proof made. And these proofs would also show traps. The question is, whether you are using Esko or PACKZ, do you show traps on your PDF proofs?

    The floppy

The most popular iteration of the 3.5" disk had storage of 1.44Mb. In my graveyard I still have a 2Gb SCSI Iomega Jaz Drive. Does anyone remember the 100Mb Zip drive and the "Click of Death"?

    Questions...

As stated in my previous post, I am a noob in flexo. So please excuse my ignorance and rudimentary questions. We have: 1 - Mark Andy P5 2 - Marc Andy 2200 1 - Webtron 650 All are very well maintained. We are using HD ASAHI plates imaged on a Esko CDI Spark 3530. We use an outside vendor for...

    Offset to Flexo

Hello all. After many, many years in offset printing prepress, I have made the move to flexo. I think I will pick it up just fine, but I might be relying on you geniuses here @ PP for some pointers!

Canada hits back at U.S. with dollar-for-dollar tariffs

I know that I will get flamed for this... (I am a US citizen) Trudeau is a fantastic leader. Canada is a great country. Honestly, Canada is what the United States of America could be. But we are moving in the wrong direction. I used to live in the state of Montana so I would frequently travel...

    Two Sided Proofing

The documentation is OK at best. A lot of the terms and methodology seem counter-intuitive. But you will get the hang of it over time! It might also be that the tech that installed our system was new and only had a few other installation under his belt.

    Two Sided Proofing

We have had the ImpoProof with the two Canon iPF8400S printers for about 3 years now. It replaced a PreProofer with 2 EPSON 9880 printers that we have had for about 10 years. Before that we had a HP DesignJet with a TechSage SpinJet accessory. The ImpoProof has the best back-up by far, but also...

PitStop & PitStop Server 2018 Released

I paid for my SMA last week. But I did't receive the licensing key yet. So I asked my re-seller when I will be getting it. Below is his response. "Hi Thom XChange US is waiting on Enfocus to deliver the v2018 licensing and hope to get these to you soon. In the meantime if any of the users need...

    The Printer's Burden

I have been in printing for 29 years. I am still as dumb as ever when it comes to identifying fonts.

    This is why we're doomed

Damn... I guess that 6 hours of postal training yesterday wore me out more than I thought.

    This is why we're doomed

Actually most ink manufactured today is. Edamame is an immature soybean in the pod. Virtually all offset inks are soy-based.
