    Sterling Digibinder Super Nipper trouble.

Also, I’m not sure padding is a function on the Super. Seems crazy that it wouldn’t be but there’s no option for that in the menu. I can turn off the inverter which makes the blade not activate but it won’t feed without a cover. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Lantz

    Sterling Digibinder Super Nipper trouble.

Thanks. The service guy from Spiel emailed the same thing. I saw those sensors and blew them off but didn’t check to see the position. I think I remember seeing a red light on one of them which is usually a bad sign, but not sure if it was in or out. I’ll look again tomorrow. Lantz

    Sterling Digibinder Super Nipper trouble.

Quick update: Spiel did end up sending the correct fan so that's installed and works. I am still having the same nipper trouble. If I press the buttons on the keypad, the nipper will go in and out, so enough air is getting to it. But when we send a book through, it stops on the cover, the table...

    Sterling Digibinder Super Nipper trouble.

Checked the air and it all seems fine, I think. I'm not totally convinced it's not a bit too leaky but really all it means is that the compressor turns on very often and then turns off because it is not holding the air it should be. But I figure if the book clamp is working then the nipper...

    Sterling Digibinder Super Nipper trouble.

Yeah actually I wondered if it had something to do with the air. I wonder if there’s a leak somewhere. Seems like the air powers a lot on this machine. I’ll check it out tomorrow! Lantz

    Sterling Digibinder Super Nipper trouble.

Hey folks, We just bought a Sterling Digibinder to replace our Horizon BQ-140 perfect binder, as it was not doing well with coated stock. We looked into getting a PUR glue system, but obviously with the space and ventilation requirements, that was not going to work. We temporarily sent all of...

    Xerox Drums Revisited

Yes, definitely shake before installing. That's interesting though, that the toner could be causing the drum issues. Never really thought about that before.

    Xerox Drums Revisited

So interesting. It says that the UK Versant is changing toner. I wonder if the same is true for US companies? Is the toner the same or different? I haven't heard anything like this from our service company, but their communication is shit anyway, lol.

    Canva Files

I didn't realize they'd started printing as well. I see your point but don't agree with it. If they really wanted to force people into printing with them, they would only let you export with white margins for using a home printer or something and no crops. The fact that they're even letting...

    Canva Files

Yep. This is why I am adamant about 1) requesting proper files from clients, and 2) explaining why the issue is. I would say that 98% of the time the client is appreciative and happy to know what the problem is. Generally speaking after that their files are pitch perfect. Every now and again we...

    Canva Files

I once emailed Canva to ask them to please make one simple change: allow the customer to export with bleeds and crops if they so desire (although why tf should they have that, they don't know what they're doing) OR allow them to export with the bleed but no crop marks. They ignored my email, no...

    Plockmatic 102 trouble - help?

Hey there. Sorry, this was years ago and I can't remember exactly what happened, but we use a service company called ServRight who has this guy Mike that knows these machines really well. He's a really great guy and does great work. They're not cheap so I try not to call them. Basically what you...

    Xerox Drums Revisited

Yeah, I mean only once have I ever had a drum go to 0% and ask for a replacement. It's acceptable to me that depending on what we're running, 10-25% is a fine time to replace them. But this is totally absurd. A tech actually told me that they use the cheapest drums, which is maybe why they don't...

    Xerox Drums Revisited

The situation has not improved with regard to the quality of drums, but they at least don't give me problems about ordering them anymore. Every Monday or so I will order a full set of drums, even if I have a few on the shelf. They don't argue with me about whether I need them, they just send...

    Upgrading from the Xerox V180.

Well, it will auto-duplex 257-300gsm. Our 100# cover is 270gsm and that's totally fine. But it will not auto-duplex 301-350gsm, so we have to run one side and then flip it. Actually the 130# stock we use is 352gsm, so just slightly out of spec. But being able to auto-duplex that heavy stock...

    Upgrading from the Xerox V180.

That's so funny because someone from Xerox said the exact opposite to me. She said that the little metal brackets were unreliable and that we should use the bypass tray. Maybe I should give the high cap tray another whirl. FYI the #10s actually ran great through the bypass, but you just have to...

    Upgrading from the Xerox V180.

Thanks for your insight, this is actually really helpful and enough to make me pause and reconsider. Perhaps what we should do is just get a faster machine that will auto-duplex 300gsm+ stock and run envelopes well. I have just started running envelopes on our V180 but only through the bypass...

    Upgrading from the Xerox V180.

Hey folks, thanks for all your responses. I didn't get any notifications and came here looking for something else, so I just now noticed them. I totally hear what folks are saying, re: the temporary drum situation. I actually have not been having that issue lately so my sense is that it's...

    Upgrading from the Xerox V180.

Hey all, My shop is about halfway through a lease of a Xerox V180. We originally upgraded from a C75 and at that time had been entertaining an offer from Canon but decided to stay with Xerox because we knew and trusted the line of machines and the deal they gave us was good. All that said, we...
