Fuzzy White Text on Maroon Background

    I’ll try this tomorrow morning.

Fuzzy White Text on Maroon Background

Interesting. I just create a transparent watermark in Acrobat and then use the flattener to outline fonts. Sounds like pitstop allows for selecting groups of text individual rather than outlining the entire document.

Fuzzy White Text on Maroon Background

Well A) probably but We bought it at 18x12 and B) I know that the order of the numbers denotes grain. I think the grain runs alone the 2nd number so in this case grain short.

Fuzzy White Text on Maroon Background

Interesting. It's 18x12. Does that mean grain short? I think it does. I can never remember. We are printing short edge first.

Fuzzy White Text on Maroon Background

I blame the internet. Seriously. The rules of designing for web vs designing for print are just so different and a lot of designers aren't aware of that. Update: We had already printed the job. 525 sheets. Just flipped through. Some are perfect, some are not. So it's a bounce issue.

Fuzzy White Text on Maroon Background

Ooooh. You meant outline. I was thinking adding a stroke to increase font weight. I’ll give that a shot.

Fuzzy White Text on Maroon Background

I’m an idiot. I meant magenta.

Fuzzy White Text on Maroon Background

Loupe: I took a picture with my phone through the loupe. Not sure exactly what I'm looking at. Is the cyan out of registration? Type: It's kind of live. I don't recall exactly the circumstances that usually do this but when opened in Illustrator the text is broken up into a whole bunch of...

Fuzzy White Text on Maroon Background

7.5pt Georgia. Preflighting for CMYK Offset warns that text smaller than 9 that uses more than 1 colorant (whatever that is) should not be used.

Fuzzy White Text on Maroon Background

Working on printing (digital) artwork for a customer. The customer designed it. It's a PDF. Thin/small white text on a dark maroon background. Text is vector, background is vector. Printing on a Xerox J75. The print comes out looking fuzzy. Seems like an overprinting issue but output preview...

Suggestion on Inexpensive Coil Punch and Inserter

We currently have a punch and comb binder. The punch does not have a replaceable die. We would like to replace both machines with a punch and inserter for coil binding. It would get very low use but enough that we could probably break even and it would eliminate the pain in the ass of...

Changing Blankets on Itek 975 PFA / Ryobi 3200 PFA

Well, I certainly am not qualified to comment on this but I can say that this label is on the box that the blankets come in. Picture below. (note line 3rd from bottom).

Changing Blankets on Itek 975 PFA / Ryobi 3200 PFA

Funny, I was actually going to ask you what your experience running solids was. Also, the whole reason I asked the press operator to change the blankets a couple days ago is because we have a job coming in the next week that has big solids on every single page. Total job is 30 plates and about...

Changing Blankets on Itek 975 PFA / Ryobi 3200 PFA

"fine" is subjective. His quality kind of sucked. One day the repair guy was in here and I think the subject of packing came up. I believe the repair guy is why he started packing in the first place. What you're saying would definitely explain why he hadn't done it for years. The other issue...

Changing Blankets on Itek 975 PFA / Ryobi 3200 PFA

That's what I thought. I try to be careful how much I say since I am a lot younger than him, have no professional training and have never run a press. Keep in mind we ended up going with no packing and still had an incredibly difficult time with it. As far as length of time. We barely run any...

Changing Blankets on Itek 975 PFA / Ryobi 3200 PFA

Press operator had me purchase them This is what he had me get: 43189-P ITEK COMPRESSIBLE 12.2" X 19.2" .075" ITEK GRAPHIX PRESS BLANKETS 975 PFA

Changing Blankets on Itek 975 PFA / Ryobi 3200 PFA

My press operator has been running this one single press for 20 years. Until about 3 years ago he never packed the blankets because he didn't know that he was supposed to. He says he has never had any problems putting the blankets on until 3 times ago (we change them every 9 months or so). He...

DPM 2340 - Which Direction Should Filter Pump Run?

Interesting... what are your thoughts on my situation in general, does pulling the chemical from the very top of the tank (like a half inch below the fill line) and then pushing back up into the bottom of the tank seem backwards to you?

DPM 2340 - Which Direction Should Filter Pump Run?

That was my thought... that going straight into the pump would also not be a good idea. Personally I would think going from bottom of the tank, into the filter, into the pump and back up to drop in at the top of the tank seems to make the most sense but that's just my intuition.

DPM 2340 - Which Direction Should Filter Pump Run?

We have been suspicious of our filter pump since we bought our DPM 2340 a couple years ago. About a month ago I took everything apart related to the pump, filter and hoses, cleaned it and put it back together. We are investigating more today and have noticed the direction of the chemical seems...
