    Fiery Command Workstation Questions

Thanks. We actually are using the tiff files in order to flatten the original pdf for full control of transparency flattening. Would really like to be able to simply throw both tiffs in the Hold queue and combine or something. Anybody have a solution for this (besides combining into a pdf)? I...

    Fiery Command Workstation Questions

Two Questions regarding Fiery Command Workstation (we have a Xerox J75): 1) How can I load 2 tiff files into the held queue and then turn them into 1 job as a single sheet front and back? It appears that merge jobs would be an option but it is not available on tiff files but does appear for pdf...

Xerox J75 - mottle in solid areas

Just got a used J75 and we are seeing pretty poor quality in solid areas. Probably could be refered to as mottle. Just kind of splotchy. Barely have tested and a tech is coming Monday for orientation type stuff so I'll be asking to address this. So far it had been noticed on 65lb accent opaque...

Xerox J75 Service Agreement Toner question

This is all anyone could hope for. Sounds encouraging but I'm sure it just depends what company has the rights to the territory you are in.

Xerox J75 Service Agreement Toner question

I'm a little freaked out by this. We were sold this machine from Michigan Office Solutions (MOS) which, we've been told, is owned by Global Imaging which is owned by Xerox. We were told that buying from Michigan Office Solutions is as close as you get to buying direct from Xerox if you live in...

Xerox J75 Service Agreement Toner question

That's actually exactly what the sales guys said. Basically that it would just prompt a conversation if we went over. That was all kind of acceptable to us though we weren't thrilled. A little too "big brother"-ish but whatever. The thing that we really didn't like is the fact that they said...

Xerox J75 Service Agreement Toner question

MailGuru you kind of anwered my question by saying you've signed a number of service agreements with the 10% provision on it. Just wanted to make sure we didn't do something stupid. Thanks.

Xerox J75 Service Agreement Toner question

Not sure if anyone is familiar with it but there is free software called APFill that let's you process a pdf file to determine what kind of coverage it will require. It gives you CMYK all individually and then an average across all 4. No surprise that our all black text pages were are 5% and...

Xerox J75 Service Agreement Toner question

I think they are basing it on 7.5% coverage... or maybe that is just how the manufacturer bases their estimated yield.

Xerox J75 Service Agreement Toner question

Fair enough and we aren't trying to get away with anything but my feeling is that if we want to do 100% 4/4 full coverage postcards all day we shouldn't get punished for that. We asked if they have ever enforced the rule and they admitted that they were aware of one time in the last 10 years...

Xerox J75 Service Agreement Toner question

We bought a used Xerox J75 from Xerox last week and when signing docs we got to the page about the service agreement and it said that we have to stay within 10% of manufacturers estimated yield or they have option to charge more. Have you guys ever heard of that from Xerox?

Looking for Densitometer/Plate reader -- X Rite or other

I actually ended up finding a REALLY old x-rite densitometer from ebay for $25 (so old x-rite doesn't acknowledge it on their support site). I cannot understand how much it has improved our quality in one week (and reduced a TON of back and forth between prepress and press).

Looking for Densitometer/Plate reader -- X Rite or other

We want to set tonal curve values on our platesetter and are in need of a BW plate reader / densitometer. Anybody selling a really inexpensive one?

DPM Conversion Kit -- which plate material

I've been offered a used DPM conversion kit which apparently will allow my DPM 2340 to take plates on a bulk roll. I'm looking for 12" paper backed plates preferably 7 mil but will do 8 mil if that's all that's available. Anyone know the exact plate material I need to buy? I know sometimes...

Understanding the Canon ImagePress Line and Rough Price Points

What is the service arrangement with you keeping it? Do you guys pay for some sort of service plan? Is it monthly service plan PLUS clicks or just clicks? Higher click rate? Would love details on this because this may be our preferred route. Do a dollar buyout lease and then run it into the...

Understanding the Canon ImagePress Line and Rough Price Points

So these are calculated based on Canon's "Single Click" rate which is that they only charge a single click for any size sheet: 18,000 black monthly 3,600 color monthly Their lease on 63 months is $640 with a .01 cent black and a .06 cent color. I think there was a click commit on that but it...

Understanding the Canon ImagePress Line and Rough Price Points

Yep, that's pretty much all in line with our thinking and we were guessing somewhere in the 15k-20k range but 10k-15k probably makes a whole lot of sense.
