Grayscale Mode K text on white or on a fill not the same thickness. Versant engine

DYP I think I know what your talking about but not 100% sure. I had a similar problem on another machine we used to have. If you find a file that you would be able to post, do that. If you are able to state the affected type you are seeing these effects. I just want to check it out and see what...

    Blending Mode

Okay good info and I did read that tech note but it especially said this should cause no issue which left me confused. Apparently it does effect objects when ripped though or at least on the Canon and our Fiery RIP. Last question and going back to the file I first sent you. How would one assign...

So this paticular image the guy running the inkjet after talking to him a little more diid not send this as a pdf. I guess he needed to make adj to the image so he opened it in PS (this he did not explain initially). So I guess when he did that it displayed black and blue and he then printed a...

Macmann I'm sorry that was stupid of me to post that instead of PM. Can you please delete that from your post, thank you. So I know that's what I mean I don't know what is going on but the pdf displays correctly it's just on output. We again can fix it but we are trying to figure out what it is...

Okay so here is a slice of the "art" image. If you just drop this into photoshop it turns black with blue detail. This is exactly how it print on the inkjet. Again "Compatible" assigned.

    Blending Mode

Okay I'll give that a try there is one issue with changing the spots to CMYK however. On the inkjet it has no Pantone library to refer to therefore uses the alternative space if the file has a spot callout. The laser however is different and does. The reason why this is an issue is because th...

    Blending Mode

Actually we did run the script and same problem but I am going to let you have the file (granted each case may be a little different I don't know) to see what you see in this one. The thing is, we can fix the problem we just don't know why the file that are being submitted have Compatible tagged...

    Blending Mode

So this is where stuff gets a little tough. I know one job supposedly was created in InD then exported to pdf. Another was three art prints that were exported and submitted as pdfs. The inkjet printer said something is wrong it is printing out as blue and black. That's when we checked the file...

    Blending Mode

So just recently as in the last couple of weeks we are starting to get customer supplied PDFs that do not print correctly. The only thing they all have in common is that, when viewed through Pitstop, the blending mode is Compatible. For some reason those transparencies with this blending mode do...

    Selected Blending > Compatible?

So we started seeing this in customer files and our rips on the laser and injet do not play nice with it. I was just wondering what is it and how may customers exporting pdf have their blending mode to be selected as Compatible when viewing through Pitstop. In other words what are they doing to...

    Ricoh C7100 density/saturation issues

That it. So I didn't have problems running this on either the 7110 or the 651 however another operator running a 651 said he didn't like it but I think that was more due to the state of his machine than due to the paper. Again, it's not a high grade paper but as stated above, it trumps Husky Offset.

    Ricoh C7100 density/saturation issues

I would say give Lynx a try it's a little more but depends on your vendor. If I need to lay down a nice smooth solid on text weight uncoated, I push for Mohawk CC98 or Neenah laser. These are both more expensive than Husky or Lynx but you can count on them and they will give you the quality...

    Ricoh C7100 density/saturation issues

So just to let you know, we run a lot of Husky 60# mainly in xerox dept. but to cut down on costs they try to spec it for some color jobs. If the coverage is med-full usually the result will not look so great. Accent, same result. So for light coverage or just copy and a few graphics not a big...

Canon C850 vs Ricoh 7100 or 9100 series.

I can confirm this is an issue on the 7100 series as well. Also you have to duplex manually. Another thing is even though the 7100 is supposed to handle textured stocks better as far as laying down in the recesses of the texture, I actually like the 651 better as far as overall quality on...

    Ricoh pro c7100sx

Is it happening on every type of media? Did anyone come in before you started to notice this and play with voltages? You can try the maximum density settings 017-020 to see if this helps. Ideally you would go to the negative end of whichever colorant is giving you the issue. Also with big...

Printing on Specialty Media (magnets, transfer paper, etc) on the Xerox C60/C70

Well not sure if you have looked at MTM products. We get a lot of specialty media through them. We do get some from or regular paper vendors but MTM has a pretty good selection and will also let you know if it's spec'd for your specific machine. Anyways, check them out if you haven't already...

    Varnish Over Toner

That's awesome tpmar! Glad you found a solution that works for you. So speed does come into play on ours as well. Gloss UV we run fairly fast but if we run Satin UV we have to slow it way down. The type of stock has an effect as well. The stock of choice for book covers and bc is Tango. It seems...
