Can You Get Coronavirus From the Mail?

A relevant clarification from the CDC at the top of the article: "A recent documented SARS-CoV-2 RNA was found on surfaces in cruise ship cabins up to 17 days after cabins were vacated on the Diamond Princess, before disinfection occurred. Live, infectious virus was NOT found. The authors’...

No one talking about corona virus yet? - Thoughts on slowing down

Yes, the economic impact will have severe and sometimes fatal consequences for people. But that is going to be much less than the impact of letting this highly-transmissible virus spread unimpeded among a population. Both are bad options, but one is less bad. Don't worry, your total shutdown is...

No one talking about corona virus yet? - Thoughts on slowing down

If everyone does their part, then yes the economic impact will dwarf the virus' impact - that's the whole point of doing this! These actions trade economic impact for positive health impact. Economic impacts are bad, but death is forever.

Way to go. This is a fantastic way to help prepress do their work from home with the same tools.

    Cheap web to print system

Oh trust me, the ripping off is occurring but the higher level of service and support is not always occuring. MyOrderDesk that Stickman42 mentioned was actually the one I found for $150/month as well (glad to see the price is lower!). They definitely seemed well put together and may be worth...

    Cheap web to print system

I would be surprised if there is a good software package for that cheap. I found one for $150/month and that was cheap! The really mature products I've seen before are in the $1200/month ballpark range. I know RedTie has a pricing scheme that goes by line item ordered that might be worth looking at.

    Konica Hikari/AccurioFlux VS Fiery

I believe the Fiery does its RIP work in a small Linux box buried deep down but has a Win7/10 interface for the user.

Newspaper Executive Says Newspapers Are Finished

Did we opine in the same way the fall of the written encyclopedia back when that happened? Quality content can't save an outdated medium. If you're in the business of producing quality content or journalism, you need to adjust to the new mediums people use...which is what the big boys (NYT &...

    Cheap web to print system

We've been stuck with the same bad web-to-print (EFI's MarketDirect/Digital Storefront - stay away!) for all the years I've worked where I work so I don't have anything to point you towards, other than most of these web-to-prints will output for you a print-ready PDF when everything is said and...

    Cheap web to print system

What does end-to-end mean to you? Are you wanting it to tie into an MIS system you've got and that's what you mean?

Legal child marriage in the US

We're operating under the shared agreement that child marriage harms children and thus, child marriage should involve the state because it harms children. And if you were talking about incest, a child of incest certainly has an dramatically increased chance of "harm" to be done to them in the...

    MIS Recommendation?

We have Pace from EFI - also good on paper, but full of holes. You won't find the holes during a guided demo, I can tell you that much!

    MIS Recommendation?

It's possible to show a customer a demo on a test system that's already set up to demonstrate capabilities, AND give them a trial key afterwards to try some things out for themselves. Doesn't have to be all one or all the other. And it's a bit disingenuous to claim that companies that do that...

    MIS Recommendation?

That's a ridiculous claim. If your software is so convoluted that you're afraid to let an end-user loose in the system with a time-limited license key...we're not stupid.

    Catalogs—They’re Making a Comeback

So their "control" measure was to make sure 90% of the products were the same between the two mediums. How influential was that 10% difference in number products advertised between the two mediums in increasing number of inquiries and sales? I wonder why they didn't just go for 100% the same...

    Raster or Vector PDF proofing

Yeah, we've had font issues come up on the RIPed file but not the vector file. We proofed a regular vector PDF then RIPed it and messed up the job. So if you want to be super particular and careful about it, RIP the file in the RIP that's going to print the piece, get it back out of the RIP (if...

What's Driving Mac vs. PC Purchasing Today?

Won't argue your OS preferences, but not running updates for 4 years leaves your machine incredibly vulnerable to malware. A firewall won't save you if you or someone on your network clicks on a malicious email attachment or link, or God-forbid you're targeted by a human who drops it in on a USB...
