    Heidelberg SBBK Cylinder question

I use old film under any cutting rule that is not getting through; it has less chance to fail before the end of a run. The best way would be to spot make ready under the jacket but rolling the jacket off and on is a chore and more guesswork than one platen. I suppose to do it correctly you would...

    Heidelberg SBBK Cylinder question

You're noticing the characteristics of how a cylinder press operates vs a platen. A platen has to develop enough force for the total area being impressed all at one moment whereas the cylinder accomplishes the task throughout its revolution cycle. A score on a platen requires force equal to the...

    UV coating and scoring

Assuming you mean crease as opposed to score: Either way doesn't seem to pose any problems. It seems easy and fast enough to check. There's no way imo that coating will injure the Morgana; likewise, run scored sheet through the (offline?) coater.

How Would You Do This Job?

Did the customer ever see a booklet like this or did another design professional just try to out-do their peers again?

How Would You Do This Job?

You might have a sheet tabbed at both edges. You would want to crease for a hand fold while die cutting the tabs if so. I can't imagine machine folding a tabbed front edge. What kind of qty?

    AB Dick 9870 - Image/Text Dropout?

The blanket (to) impression is set via the hole beneath the handwheel. You should have an allen wrench with an angle (45°). Best practice is just enough impression (pressure) for a good print. It "should" be adjusted every job, if the paper thickness changes. Tight for bond, way out for heavy...

    AB Dick 9870 - Image/Text Dropout?

Blanket low spot(s) comes to mind. Do you have blanket fix? You blanket is a 3 ply? That's about .065 as I recall. They tend to smash pretty quickly compared to the 5 ply used with Itek & Ryobi. Confirm that you plate chemistry is fresh (enough) and at proper temperature; probably 85 F. Don't...

    Ryobi 3302 intermittently skewed feeding

Glad to hear you found your solution. Fwiw I spent a lifetime with the lightweight springs. Perhaps text weight would not curl up against them as opposed to the heavier set. For the last three years in a new shop they basically insist on the heavy springs. I can't win all my battles so that is...

Changing Blankets on Itek 975 PFA / Ryobi 3200 PFA

I'm going to disagree with the idea of packing. I have 20 years with the 975 but not the pfa model. (I have peers who have had this machine forever.) pfa is perfector correct? Blanket to blanket for impression, no true impression cylinder. Because of the blanket to blanket impression they, to...

Need help with TAC in 2 color printing.

I wouldn't say it is okay for the T-Head to touch the parent press ink but it is common. Ideally they would not. Run a few (hundred or thousand) jobs and have to stop and wash-up midway or twice during a run and it will make more sense. Let's clarify Tack - It is Tack, not TAC. (TAC is reserved...
