    Ring AM screening?

Concentric screening, that could be. But there was something with a ring dot by Agfa yonks ago in the stone age, perhaps I´m starting to get things mixed up in my dotage.

    Ring AM screening?

If memory serves ring AM screening was one of Agfa´s brainfarts way back in the late nineties. It was offered as a way to save on ink and targeted at newspaper and magazine publishers. It didn´t offer any advantages over conventional screening and after a while nothing was heard of it again.

No one talking about corona virus yet? - Thoughts on slowing down

Germany is now under lockdown with the southern states being the most affected. I think that civil unrest is on every politicians mind but maybe not so much here. Germans tend to do as they are told, there are reports though that drug addicts and alcoholics are starting to get "itchy" that could...

No one talking about corona virus yet? - Thoughts on slowing down

The first cities in Germany are now under curfew, no going out except for work, if you still have it, or shopping or to the doctors and you must have your ID with you otherwise there will be fines and jailtime imposed. Even now all shops that are not food supplierers are closed, Chemists...

Seeking imagesetter film output in Bend, Oregon

I was able to get decent results with Epson inkjets. The background was that a lot of Flexo printers who used CTF went over to Inkjet as a stopgap or a backup when their Film laser went down and they had no money for a CTP.

No one talking about corona virus yet? - Thoughts on slowing down

Why would that be a question? If you are sick you are sick, you get a doctors note and the company will send it to the insurance, if you are away for a longer period then your insurance kicks in. If your company is on short work then your company will apply for a short work permit. Why should...

Seeking imagesetter film output in Bend, Oregon

With backlit film out of an inkjet you should get a rather decent coveradge and then depending on the printer and if you know one or two tricks you should be close to or as good as film out of a CTF.

No one talking about corona virus yet? - Thoughts on slowing down

Here in Bavaria things are grinding to a halt, the borders are closed and holiday makers are being evacuated from risk areas, yesterday I took the bike thinking to hop over to Austria but got turned back. And for anybody thinking that this is just a flu... it isn´t!

    Ctp plate curves for screens

Why? If your SID´s are in specification then you should be able to use the TVI´s as a target. Just two weeks ago I did a Rapida and gloss and matt stock using the suggested TVI values supplied by the K&B technician.

A few recent threads have gotten me thinking...

Sadly that is a licensing issue, at one time you could download any upgrades but now I think you have to send the device in. Makes sense to have it checked every few years anyway.

    Nanographic Printing

I agree, but it´s like pushing a boulder up an increasingly steep hill, at some point you find that you are using more and more energy for only little gain.

    Nanographic Printing

Historically when Printing was still a developing technology I would agree with you, but what ground breaking new methods to bring particles to stick on a substrate have happened in the last 20-odd years, for instance the internal combustion engine is a the end of it´s development, it gets...

    Nanographic Printing

I would agree to disagree, the reception of the human eye is not a standardized tristimulus response which could be described in a (let´s say) ICC profile. How you see colour is in your brain and your brain alone. Perhaps I should have written that today´s offset is as good as the untrained eye...

    Nanographic Printing

I would think that "singularity" is already here, printing is not going to get much better, except by pouring gigabucks into marginal improvements, at some point the economic gains will simply not justify investments.

    Nanographic Printing

Interesting article, but it raises the question: If the Landa is as good as offset with a bit more contrast why not simply stick with offset and work on your profiles? At the end of the day it´s not much faster and you can´t say it´s cheaper and seeing that offset has been developed as far as...
