Ah, got it! The wall of text was almost too much to process. Then in that case, everything what the others have said. Having said that if you ask me for my humble opinion I would stick with Kindle.

    Esko or Kodak?

I would say a change over from Kodak would depend on your status at this moment, as in what versions are you using and do you have a SSL contract? The problem with the big guns is that as as soon as you sign up your soul belongs to them, you may as well get Kodak or Esko or Fuji etc. tatooed on...

    Fascile sewing

Could be worst, could be truetype. I did laugh at this though: The Flong were the indigenous population in British newspaper The Guardian's 1977 April fool story[2] on the fictional islands of San Serriffe.[3] This was only one of many printing and typographical punsin the story.

    Fascile sewing

If I remember it is a term that you find more in France and Italy, But that´s another thing what apprenticeships are good for, learning stuff so that you can astonish people on a online forum 40 years down the line.

    Fascile sewing

It is for sewing but also used to describe muscle bundles, but the term is used also in binding... (from wiki) # From Latin fasciculus, a diminutive of fascis ‘bundle’ also (anatomy) A small bundle of nerve, muscle or tendon fibers. One of the divisions of a book published in separate parts...

Something like this, but I am sure that some bookbinders will be around shortly to add to the topic.

    Fascile sewing

Oh, I know this one, fascicle sewing in relation to books is thread stitching where (if memory serves) imposed and cut sheets (the fascicles) are stitched together and collated for stitch binding, really old school stuff.

    Apprenticeship

I know some people who wish they had. I get your point but the example was just to show that apprenticeships come in all shapes and sizes. For instance, my son is in his second year as apprentice with a company that installs and repairs air conditioning units, by the time he has finished, in...

    Apprenticeship

There is another aspect, a young person is expected to have at least an apprenticeship under his or her belt at a certain age. It´s the same mindset as a "rite of passage" thing, without one you will simply be regarded as unskilled labour.

    Apprenticeship

I couldn´t agree with you more, on the other hand I eat MCSE´s for breakfast but I could never land a job in that line of work without a diploma (and at least five years experience) just as I would never get a job as a so-called "Media designer" without some kind of accredited certification, I...

Would you rather have a certified tradesman with years of experience wiring your home or somebody who has just been shown how to work a screwdriver without ramming it through his hand?

    Apprenticeship

Ahem! I took my exams in 1984 after three years apprentice. I only got the reduction to three years because I had done another apprenticeship as a chef, it´s a long story... altogether! And no, the buggers didn´t tell me anything, I don´t blame them as they were old school typesetters who drank...

    Apprenticeship

A recent post by Gordo got me thinking a bit. For somebody like me who churned through the apprentice system for three years so that I can call myself a typesetter the idea that you can pick up the trade “on the fly” so to speak is strange at best. Typesetter, the way we or I understand it is...

It started with the idea that: "With DTP every secretary is a typesetter at the push of a button" I suppose it is our own fault for making ourselves redundant.

Somehow that sentence makes me want to cramp. Don´t know if you have a apprentice system on your side of the pond, but even then how do you get a pool of people who are able to do the job if they are not trained and have at least a mediocrum of talent..? If you then have a person who is highly...

Over 50 unemployed Prepress Tech, should I call it quits for printing?

Go for it, if there is one thing I have learned it is not to deal with absolutes. On the otherhand the more you stray from your tradecraft the more you find yourself working down the foodchain, until you get to the point where you are considered unskilled and trying to compete with those who...

Have you benefitted from the recent economic uptick!

That would be by fraking, also known as "scraping the bottom of the barrel" Problem is not that Oil is running out but it will become too expensive to produce, when Oil costs as much to produce as it brings in revenue it is no longer a energy source but an energy sink, the only way you can get...
