Clean up for a QM46/2 press

our guys can do a final cleanup in about 10 mins. that's with washing both fountains. 3350 is too slow for a washup imo. our local Heidelberg techs suggest 6000. this is what we have done for about 10 years now with no negative effects. if the rollers and tray blades "hickey removers" are in...

drastic temperature differences between technotrans and water pans

i tried increasing the flow rate both too and from the pans, with no real difference noted. i'm starting to think that maybe the coolent in the chiller is just toast and neds to be replaced. 8 years of 24/5 use must take it's toll. i'm going to pick up a better thermometer this weekend to...

drastic temperature differences between technotrans and water pans

we were talking about this when the other guy was doing the measuring. i might try this, i was thinking at the time that the thermomiter was actually reading the pan temp not the water temp, but my opinion was quickly hushed :o.

drastic temperature differences between technotrans and water pans

i haven't done that yet as it's been the same for the last 8 or 9 years and it hasnt been an issue. i suppose i can try that.

slow dry times - ink or fountain solution?

well, i have some say in the choice... im the one that has to use it :) only somehow we got locked into using the hostman from our suplier for 3 years at a guarenteed price. so we have to wait until the BS contract is over. i really want to try K+E and Toyo as i've heard alot of great things...

slow dry times - ink or fountain solution?

this isnt really much of an issue anymore now that we switched inks to the hostman inkredible rapida series. i'm still not happy with hostman in general but for the time being we are using it. still slow dry times on uncoated and seem to have to run the powder high most of the time. im still...

drastic temperature differences between technotrans and water pans

the temps were measured with a laser thermomiter at each pan while at rest (the press was just done running 40,000 sheets about 35mins before the measurement was taken. i just assumed they should be a little more consistant and closer together.

drastic temperature differences between technotrans and water pans

well, i know how the whole thing works. the reason it's so strange to me, is that pans that are closer to the chiller are warmer than the pans that are farther away. i know it has the possibility of being close to somehting thats giving off alot of heat, but being insulated and still loosing 10...

drastic temperature differences between technotrans and water pans

any ideas as to what would cause a large difference in temperature between the technotrans unit and the water pans in the press? also, a large difference in temperature between waterpans at each unit? the technotrans itself is set for 10.5c and should therefore be about 11.5c when it enters...

what fountain solution are you currently using?

well, tried the prisco 2451 plus 2 today. tried to get the plus 2 G but they only had the regular one. it's not bad at all. a lot more convenient. so far, it's the best one I've tried but still not quite what i want.

what fountain solution are you currently using?

wow you really have a tonne of good info every time you post. i saved these with some other pdf's you posted in the past. i think i may be running the chiller too cold. 10.5c or about 50 f currently. i might bring it up closer to 55f or around 12.5c

    Inline perfing

depending on how close the perf is to the varnish on the second pass, and depending on the method (if it's an inline litho-perf) you can get issues with dust particals and debris from the perf that stays on the blanket or cylinders that has a chance to stick to the varnish. ive had this happen...

what fountain solution are you currently using?

you might be a good person to talk to about this then. we tried the 5star stuff and we didn't have a good time with it. our plates seem to like to run hotter, closer to a ph of 4 (our current stuff runs at 4.2 ph) but the 5 star we tried ran at 4.8-5.0 not too good of a match for our...

is your press equipped with auto blanket wash device?

ours has the brush style units. we get some excess wash at the tail and into the gap that sometimes splashes. we stopped using them some time ago because we needed new brushes and we just got used to washing by hand. i'm just trying to justify to management that they are beneficial and worth...

    non-stop feed and delivery

well, not to bring a dead thread back, but i fixed the continous feed system and finally tried it out. considering it stopped working 6 years ago (long story) and i've never used it, i got the hang of it pretty quick. this one isn't very automated, the press advances the pile up to the...

QM46 PU2 Scumming on one side.

we've had this issue before on several occasions. both times within the last year it was was a bad bearing. but in the past it's happened when an op would just have a form to osc. setting wrong. i would pull your rollers and dampening unit and check all the bearings and then reset according...
