    Solid Ink LABs - GRACoL 2006 & GRACoL 2013

    1) I don't know. 2) I have the spreadsheet with GRACoL_2006 (TR006) data. PM me if you'd like a copy of what I have. 3) You should be able to edit the reference data. You can copy in the data set that you need to work with.

    white CMYK overprints

motormount, I routinely use that same step in my preflighting. Most of the Adobe apps won't allow you to set white elements to overprint now. You have to do it in a round-about manner.

MIS/Workflow for Indigo, Screen CTP, Fiery, and Prisma

Can't comment much on MIS systems. You have a scenario in which I think you could see some efficiencies from implementing Switch, but I'm not sure if that's the question you're asking.

    Solid Ink LABs - GRACoL 2006 & GRACoL 2013

Your paper will conform to GRACoL_2013 spec. You can adapt your target colors to the white point of the paper; there is an Excel spreadsheet on the IDEAlliance web site to do this. You could use a test form like the attached to find if there is a yellow density that will get you in spec. It'll...

Which design program do you prefer if you had to chose between these two, and why?

It's interesting that no one has mentioned color handling. From my limited experience, Corel's color management is pretty rudimentary. Will Corel export a PDF/X file of any flavor? My information has been that Corel PDFs tend to be, on the whole, more problematic. Does Corel license official...

How to make Imposed item same all the way around?

It sounds like a couple of these will need bleed. 11x17 is too small to accommodate the bleed running more than one on a sheet. Is this being run on a production device, or are you trying to output on a laser printer?

Should i convert job/PDF to desired out color profile befor sending to RIP or not...?

I see some issues: 1) You're not including any profiles in the PDF. I feel that this is a mistake. 2) The conversion you have set up in Acrobat will not preserve your black channel. You're going to get 4-color blacks 3) I think you're converting to FOGRA39 and then to FOGRA29. This is not...

Should i convert job/PDF to desired out color profile befor sending to RIP or not...?

Glenn, I recommend this strategy because the OP is designing the files. My answer is based on the assumption that he is designing in the colorspace he that will be used. If he is designing in FOGRA39 for an uncoated printing, then you are right, he should consider converting everything.

    Colour Proofing 1-bit tiffs

There are lots of folks who do it. Packaging folks want to see the halftone screening to anticipate moire issues, and some other folks simply want that level of data integrity. Most proofing RIPs can take in the 1-bit data, recombine and descreen, and then process the file "normally." For...

Should i convert job/PDF to desired out color profile befor sending to RIP or not...?

InDesign will pass gray elements through, so maintaining your black channel is not a problem. I think that the only thing you need to convert are placed elements; RGB photos and the like. If you use Convert to Destination (preserve numbers) then elements that are native InDesign elements will...

    ISO 12647-2 what status?

Can we assume that any spec, or measurement data, from before M0, M1, M2, M3 were ratified is M0 by default?

    ISO 12647-2 what status?

It doesn't matter, as there are no normative values for density in 12647-2. There are target values for the colors of solids and overprints. Those colorimetric aims differ, depending on the paper. You would need to determine at what densities you achieve the colorimetric aims for the paper type...

I use this one, too. You need the attached PostScript file. Open it in TextEditor, change the beginning values, and save. Then double-click (on Mac) and a PDF file will be created.

    new Adobe Acrobat DC

Installing DC through the Creative Cloud App Mgr warns you about wiping Acrobat XI, now. If you download the installer and avoid using the CC App Mgr, it leaves Acro XI alone. Dov, Leonard, I accept that I have been warned about running concurrent versions. I, too, have to give props on the...

Creating an RGB file for wide format print?

You're going to run into trouble with that. Import the Photoshop file into InDesign. Set up the proper page size and bleed. Then export a PDF. Use the PDF in Fiery. This way you can properly define the trim and bleed boxes of the PDF; that allows Fiery to place the crop marks on the trim. I...

    Customer stealing eProof files

Typically, the production PDFs are too large to email conveniently. If they're going to be like that, then you're going to have to change up your billing. Make sure that you're getting paid for all prepress work, and instead of billing (or not billing) for a PDF proof, charge them for delivery...

    Customer stealing eProof files

I always send low-rez RGB files for PDF proofs. I have a PDF export setting that I use if I'm designing. If I'm working in production, I will use a "normal" PDF export and process the file in Acrobat to make it suitable for proofing and emailing.
