How do you reconcile the "news"

Gordo if you were italian, probably you wouldn't have any problem listening everything and it's own contrary. But not being italian I think that this fact could disappoint you. The italian secret are: - I search the net to have more and more info and develop my personal idea - It doesn't matter...

Sonora XP — what about FM capabilities?

Hi, we print on Sonora XP. We use Co-Res Screening (Hybrid screening) 20 micron itohut problem on our PT-R 8600. Plate calibration and Dot Gain on press are performed with their instrument. So in my opinion no problem founded. Never tested on pure stochastic screening… Hope it can help you G:

    Auraia screening

Hi Gordo, Hi Slammer, thanks a lot for your precious feedback, it is very very useful for me! G:

    Auraia screening

Hi Gordo, thanks for you reply! What I like to know is: - the result looks fantastic as they promise? - there are some limitations due to the substrate(coated or uncoated for example)? - calibration of ctp/plate/presses is more difficult than standard screening (I'm thinking about dot gain...

    Auraia screening

Hi Forumers, I have a question: Anybody of you know Auraia screening? Have you tested or implemented it? I would like to have some feedback about it. Thanks a lot! G:

Which is the best white point setting to use for print work?

Hi, Quato, Eizo and the old Barco suggested something between D50 and D65. Personally I set everything on D58, it seems a good compromise among both ways.

    Navigator looks like window 98

HI, I'm another happy user of Navigator (on a pT_R8600). What can I say… well, the interface is very poor but the real power is under the cover. I mean, i come from an APOGEE prepress 6x and I must admit that Navigator is more fast and reliable while ripping also complicated jobs (a lot of...

    Looking for an Inposition Program

Hi, avoiding workflow software with an integrated imposition software, I think you have many opportunities on the market of stand alone applications. Recently I had the same need and I did a research and several demo. If it could help, here my opinions: PREPS (by Kodak): expensive, robust...

    CTP Error

Hi Bruno, had the same problem here a couple of weeks ago. Open the rear cover and check for all the connection. They should be fix and stable. Give a gently pressure to the boards (especially on the left side of the head). It seem that the laser head has not the right level of power. This may...

PT-R 8600 Laser calibration random problem

Hi Forumer, As you can read in the subject I am having some strange trouble with my CTP: During production the laser head recalibrate every 16 plates, randomly I have an error on laser calibration on a certain diode (the n. 47). When it happens, I stop production, and I performa a manual laser...

    EQUIOS vs Xmf

After having seen them running in parallel on 3 different computer one near each other, I can assure that it's the same piece of software with same features but only different color in the interface mask. Check and compare them on these youtube videos Real Pro https://youtu.be/Fq1aTRPWcWc...

    EQUIOS vs Xmf

Beware, XMF, Real Pro and Xitron Sierra are the same product. As I know, FFEI it's the inventor and developer of that workflow, they are financed by Fuji that optimize and rebrand the software. Xitron resell it as an OEM. On the battlefield they perform equal, they act equal and the look...

    RGB to CMYK

You may also test other rendering intent. However the differences in gamut between RGB and CMYK color methods are quite evident.

    Mac or PC?

HI, here my 2 cents: both systems have pro and cons; in one hand we have mac with a stable and reliable (well, not so convinced on latest versions) operating system, on the other hand we have a more "connected" architecture and best hardware based on windows. To tell the truth I can't see a big...

    Densitometer for processless plates

May be my point of view is outdated, but… Having only a TVI curve to match standard in press ties up strictly a ctp and a press machine. The problem is when you have to provide plates without knowing what kind of machine will print the job. For that reason I find the "one curve" solution not...

    Densitometer for processless plates

Gordo, building a compensation curve means that you have to do it for every single paper, every press. It could have sense, but with multiple substrate and multiple presses… well, this leave me a little bit scared by the enormous number of curves I need.

    Densitometer for processless plates

That's an interesting point of view, thanks a lot Gordo. Now may I ask which instrument to use? X-rite, Techkon, else?

    Densitometer for processless plates

Hi all, could you help me to clear out my ideas about this topic? Which is the right device to measure (and linearize) processless plates (e.g. Fuji Pro-T, kodak Sonora Xp, and so on). I was looking at Techkon spectroplate (full optional), but I've teste on of a collegue and… it doesn't work...

    APPE vs HARLEQUIN

Hi guys, after some weeks of strong testing here my opinion: Harlequin 11 it's a great piece of software, no problem handling transparencies of any type and with trapping (APPE crashed when I submit a 2 Pantone job with some transparencies). Testing the same job on both systems, Harlequin is...

    APPE vs HARLEQUIN

Hi, thanks for you reply, actually I'm testing both systems and I must admit that HQN it's faster than APPE. PDFs are handed and rendered perfectly by both. Speaking about tricky, Yes, HQN is very very tricky compared to APPE. But sometimes tricky means more possibilities. I'll test Altona in...
