    Xitron Sierra Screen Angles

If the original file has embedded screen angles (perhaps set by the artist in Photoshop), couldn't that create the same issue once the Sierra gets the job?

    CS6 and Apple OS

This sounds promising. i asked because I have an iMac running Mavericks and thought I should upgrade to at least Yosemite. A new OS (Sierra, I believe) is coming soon and I always heard the rule of thumb is to not get more than two systems behind.

Does Quark actually do this better than INDD??

I never knew about this. I may try it next time I'm faced with this situation. I had been importing the spreads into a 8.5x11 doc and closing the box to the desired size, then exporting the PDF. Down and dirty but it worked.

    CS6 and Apple OS

A quick question. Is InDesign CS6 compatible with Apple OSX Yosemite or El Capitan? Thanks.

Printing files on server - good solution?

Hello. I have an Intel Mac running Mountain Lion. Is EasyFind safe for me to install? Thanks.

Adobe PDF file is damaged. How can it be fixed?

I would be curious as well. I'll usually try re-writing the PDF first. If that doesn't work or nothing else works I'd probably go back to the artist.

    Production vs Creative

My Acrobat has been sluggish occasionally ever since a large, multi-layered PDF came through. I get more "beachballs" in Acrobat than I used to. I wonder if that PDF has something to do with this. And the attitude in the cartoon was what I used to get from some of the designers in the early days...

    Changing Color Profiles in Acrobat

Yesterday I got a better result by turning off color management in the "Advanced Print Setup." No more 4K black type. And the map (which was in DeviceN color) separates properly also. I forgot to mention PitStop, yes. I will have to find out how to load additional profiles, as the ones I was...

    Changing Color Profiles in Acrobat

Thanks. Tried it, but still get a map that separates improperly. I have PitStop Pro but there are differing color profiles in the document. Trying to convert all colors to Device CMYK in PitStop first hasn't worked; when I try to use PitStop's Color Conversion panel I still get the message that...

    Changing Color Profiles in Acrobat

Hello, I'm trying to change the color space for a PDF to GRACol and SWOP versions (both uncoated) for test output being done elsewhere, per our director's request. I'm using the Convert Color feature in Acrobat, but any printout I get doesn't separate properly, despite the on-screen...

Content Frames Print; Can PitStop Help?

Hello, We've had an issue here (which I've seen before) where extraneous boxes with no content would have the frames print on press, overlaying color on the art underneath. I attached a screen shot for illustration. The purple diagonal frame of the artwork (the large gear) is printing inside...

    Who images plates?

This is what we do, too. Generally we each plate whatever job we've prepped, but depending upon the job, it doesn't matter who plates it. We don't have staggered shifts, though, and the platesetter isn't automated.

Changing workflows. Rampage -> Xitron Sierra?

On #7, what we did sometimes was to print to PDF from Preps, then drop the PDF into Sierra as is. But no, I don't think you can import the impositions themselves either. Not sure you could even with Preps 7, but don't quote me. You can build templates in Sierra and modify when needed, though.

Changing workflows. Rampage -> Xitron Sierra?

Hello, On #12, are you simply leaving jobs in the Sierra Client or is there some other procedure?

    CC extremely frustrating!

It should still be possible to get stand-alone licenses of Adobe CS. You could look into that if need be.

    Mavericks Compatibility

I just ordered a new iMac with Mavericks, and the Apple salesman said I'd need CS5.5 or 6 with it. When I asked about InDesign CS3, he said it doesn't look like that works with Mavericks. Another salesman (different call) also said CS6 works with Mavericks.

how should jobs progress through Prepress departments?

That's what we do. We receive the PDFs and process them. We do have to make edits to some of the PDFs occasionally (knockouts, color conversions). Any bigger issues are sent back to the artist to fix.

Who to contact for Upgrading our Preps

For Preps 6 you'd need Service Pack 2 and a minimum of 1GB RAM; haven't seen the requirement for Preps 7. The brochure doesn't state it for whatever reason.

Who to contact for Upgrading our Preps

Preps 5.3 won't run on 10.7 or higher, the OS doesn't support PowerPC-based software. It ran fine on 10.5 here, which is what we had. We moved to Mac Pros running 10.8, and we have Preps 7 now, though it's new and we haven't learned it yet. We're using the Xitron Sierra RIP, which has an...

Am I the only one who hates preps 6 and misses preps 5?

Here we're installing a Xitron Sierra, and in a webinar the imposition feature looks good. But perhaps we should consider keeping one of our Macs around with 5.3.3, as we're also moving to Mac Pros with Mountain Lion installed, which won't (unfortunately) let us use Preps 5.3.3. Preps 6 was...
