    Flattening PDF files

Yeah, unless you have your 'Pro' credentials certified, registered, and up-to-date, you will be stuck using the 'Ameteur' products...or possibly the 'Lite' stuff... (quick tip: if you know a designer, they are automatically certified as 'Pros' when they 'make' their first business card, they...

    Gmail for Business???

I have used Google Apps (now Suite) for business for several years with great success. Coming from an in-house hosted solution, it has been well worth the transition. Google Suite for Business allows you to use your own domain, has great management of accounts, mobile devices, as well as...

How to remain consistent in colors during repeat runs of a Packaging Print ?

Ideally...Your Printer should provide a proof that shows what the press will produce, without much 'mucking' around, they should be able to reproduce to the colors of the proof...especially CMYK colors. If your Print provider does not run to standards, and does not retain settings for...

    Spot Color Mess!

Agreed - From a prepress point, my FIRST finger pointing back to the pressroom would tell them to take the (cleaned or reimaged) plate, put it on one of the proven/printing units - the K,C, or M, don't mess with no 'spinney knobs or doohickeys' and show me some sheets. (standard densities, and...

How does your digital department (prep) flow....

We are a small-ish shop with offset and digital. Offset work with Rampage, digital press on another workflow (fiery's). Looking to possibly combine the offset and digital to gain efficiencies of a new centralized workflow (XMF, Xitron, Prinect, Prinergy...etc...). Have a dedicated prepress...

HP Designjet 4000 - print nothing - need help

How long was it unplugged, unused before you tried to use it? Possible that the ink tubes or pumping mechanism is plugged with dried ink or you have air in the lines... Inkjets are great if they are used continually....if they are not used for extended periods of time they can be a trainwreck...

Does Quark actually do this better than INDD??

Idea: Make a PDF and crop to single pages in acrobat (adjusting/duplicating pages for the spread first if you need to add bleed at the spine that should be on the outer edges).

Examine file and metadata in acrobat files - what does it mean?

I you don't know what it is, then I wouldn't remove it OR make a copy of the file before removing it and test in your workflow. (Metadata is in practically everything these days, Unless the metadata significantly bloats the filesize, I wouldn't waste any time worried about this) . "How can I...

    68 Page 5.5x8.5 Booklet

Curious- is this interpretation correct --> So you print it first digitally - flat at the proper weight to make sure the toner 'sticks', then run the sets through as blanks at the lower paper weight so you can force the thicker paper on your inline booklet maker? I run a plock inline for 8 to...

    Screen Platerite 8300N/8600 reviews?

Run a SCREEN 8600z/(Fuji brands it as a Javelin). Going on 8 years and it has been a solid machine for us. MINIMAL maintenance issues, and calibrations stay rock solid (it does it's own checks and keeps the laser power in spec...hell, don't even need to run checks on it, it's been that proven to...
