OSX vs Windows 10 for Pre-Press...

I was in that same position, Adobe on Mac and Morning Flight estimator on PC. Got tired of paying a premium for an iMac, then paying for Parallels, and then paying for a Windows license. Not to mention all that software updating. So I saved myself a lot of money and a little admin headaches and...

Small Shops: POS / accounting / payroll ?

That's the reason I've held off for so long. Internet goes down, no more bookkeeping. But I am fortunate that the internet does go down very often here. When it does, I just find something else to do for a couple of hours. If I really need to do some bookkeeping, I can connect to a cellular...

    Extended receipts

I don't have a problem with extended receipts. It's the "Please go online and fill out the survey" as they circle the bottom of the receipt. The keyword being, "survey'. OMG. I am so sick of surveys. Every damn vendor of mine, every damn company I call or help desk/support call wants me to fill...

Small Shops: POS / accounting / payroll ?

To run my small 2 person all-digital shop, I use Morning Flight for estimating, Quickbooks Online for bookkeeping, payroll, and credit card processing.

Lets help each other with paper cost

You're right. Just found Report Multipurpose 20lb 11x17 for $14.30/M. Just got so used to using the Soporset. This is why I like PrintPlanet. :)

Running 5.5x8.5 UV coated one side through Xerox J75 for printing on non-coated side?

I used to do this on my C75 a couple of years ago before I talked the customer out of UV coating.

Lets help each other with paper cost

11x17 Soporset 50lb text- $18.20/M 12x18 ChorusArt 80lb gloss text - $32.15/M I used to pay more till I found a supplier that wasn't two day shipping away.

    Care to Quote???

I'm a fan of value-based pricing and I have seen discrepancies on small quantity booklets like this before. I just looked up the price of a large corporate copy shop nearby and they were at $750. And I know it wouldn't look nearly as good as what anyone on this forum good do. I think most of the...

    Versant envelope printing

On my V180p, I use the high capacity tray but because of the way a stack sits, you can't fill it up very high.

    Care to Quote???

Assuming 8.5x11, I came up with $314.25 for 25 and $445.30 for 50. My pricing includes a $55 "rush" fee. Did you lose a bid or did the customer balk at the quote? Or am I too low? Pippip's price coverts to $285.54.

    Opinion on Menu Card Finishing

PricelineNegotiator, I sent you a PM with my phone number.

    Opinion on Menu Card Finishing

Actually, there is one reason- protection from mechanical rub. I do a lot of menus for local restaurants and one regional restaurant and some cleaners and even some sauces can ruin the toner. They like to wipe the menus down occasionally and even some restaurants throw them in the dishwasher...

    The Printshop Motto

Hopefully, the "repeat" part is because they want more and not because of a mistake you made. Lol!

Paper straws see ‘unprecedented growth’ as restaurants ditch plastic

So, I'm guessing plastic bags are next? Good. They rip so easily. I would love to see paper bags again.

    Xerox V80 v Canon C750

No, I have not and you are correct, the V80 and V180 are nearly identical. The only real change was the finishing options.

    Xerox V80 v Canon C750

I just got a V180P in January. Being able to run all supported media at rated speed has been a huge productivity booster for us. I did seriously consider the Canon C750/850 but I still owed a bit much on my C75 that it wouldn't have saved me much money and it seemed to be a more lateral move...

Geeking out on specs and run speeds

Don't forget, digital presses will slow down when running heavy stock unless you are running a production model which will run all supported media at rated speed. So an 8.5x11 100lb cover stock will run just as fast as 8.5x11 24lb bond. I haven't looked at my CED in awhile but even production...

    Paper straws?

I don't mind it but when you tell them the price difference, suddenly their environmentalism disappears.

    The New Excuse

I really enjoyed reading this thread. I do wonder why, here in the States, we can share roads and other public utilities but God forbid if we share the costs of healthcare.

    Paper straws?

There have been several threads about plastic so I thought I'd start my own. Just read an article in a local paper. A regional restaurant, The Green Turtle, is switching from plastic straws to biodegradable paper straws. I only have one question. Will tree-hugging environmentalists leave us...
