    Matching Press to Proof

As far as proofing goes there are a few things to remember, only the dead see everything the same way all the time, the blind have fairly stable vision but for the rest of the people the perception of color can and does vary. In 41 years on presses of all types I've never seen a proof EXACTLY...

Used Epson 9880 vs New Canon IPF770?

Unfortunately with that Epson you'll spend more on time then you will with money with the Mimaki. We has the Epson, A Roland and A Mimaki none are perfect but the Mimaki prints 5 times as fast as the Epson and twice as fast as the Roland.

    CorelDRAW X8 - AfterShot Pro 3

I've been using the CorelDraw Graphics Suite X8 now since it was released, I only use digital front end work flows which means native color PDF output for print, vector for metal bending or routing usually PDF or EPS. The output to many of the RIPs listed on this forum has been perfect...

Used Epson 9880 vs New Canon IPF770?

The 9880 I believe is older and slow, also archival ink better suited for archival prints

Are Windows Office file formats nowadays an acceptable format for ripping output?

I agree about MS Publisher unfortunately good MS Publisher users are turning out work equal to and in many cases better than Adobe users. Go figure. I use it only when I have to. I stick to the CorelDraw Graphics Suite X8 for 100% of my creation work now. The only exception is when I use...

Are Windows Office file formats nowadays an acceptable format for ripping output?

Adobe RIPS see RGB, CMYK, N color is used for all other colors, MS Publisher (and I'm not sure as I've not used the latest versions) cannot produce spot color transparency. It can produce spot color just not transparent spot colors. As I said I may be wrong on that as I believe I have 2013...

Are Windows Office file formats nowadays an acceptable format for ripping output?

Yes and no, a capable program in the hands of an idiot is useless, (read here most MAC/PC Adobe files I get), a (what I like to call) device dependent application used in the hands of a knowledgeable person works fine. The user simply limits the design to meet the requirements of the GDI...

Are Windows Office file formats nowadays an acceptable format for ripping output?

Like it or not it goes back to the knowledge of the file creator. Word, Excel and PowerPoint are certainly issues due to low resolution a assumed sRGB color space. With that said I get MS Publisher files that work far better then some Adobe CC files MAC or PC from so called professionals.

If you're getting that much dot gain you may want to re-vist all your technology.

    Big problem with printing labs

I feel for you, if you can't send an sRGB tif from any image editor from a decently calibrated display to your printer and get decent results you're dead in the water.

    Acrobat DC files fo output

At the time I was BETA testing CorelDraw X8 and it says DC in the publish to PDF setting dialog. Since then the applications released and I've sent a few hundred files out with that specification to Prinergy and a multitude of other RIPs with no issues. As long as you don't tell them they work...

    Acrobat DC files fo output

Yes I've been testing a graphic application which release Tuesday and the default press setting for PDF is DC and it seems to work fine with my three ink jet rips and was wondering if the press rips were seeing them and if they were working. All the base setting are the same as when it was...
